New York Jazz Workshop Welcome to the New York Jazz Workshop School of Music. We are a community-based music school that operates in midtown Manhattan near Times Square.

The New York Jazz Workshop is a community-based jazz music school for students of all ages. Our services include:Private Music & Instrumental Lessons -At The New York Jazz Workshop all instruments are taught including Saxophone, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Flute, Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet and also subjects like composition, counterpoint, ear training, theory, arranging.Ongoing Weekly Workshops

-The ongoing workshops offer students the ability to get together, learn music and play in a band setting under the guidance of a seasoned working musician. Summer Intensives -Our Summer Series helps musicians of all ages and skill levels gain unmatched jazz knowledge and develop professional techniques. The summer intensives are 3 to 5 days classes packed with all the information needed to jumpstart your music life.Online Learning -New York Jazz Workshop is expanding online learning opportunities with well designed courses and private online lessons for all instruments.Hire a Band -Another thing the New York Jazz Workshop does very well is providing a band for your events. From duos to large ensemble we work with musicians of all stripes and colors, the best of the best.Outreach & Teambuilding Programs -The New York Jazz Workshop offers outstanding teambuilding and outreach programs , for school, corporations, university, community groups and other institutions.Music enhances the process of learning. The systems they nourish, which include our integrated sensory, attention, cognitive, emotional and motor capacities, are shown to be the driving forces behind all other learning.

Wednesdays at 8pm - Join Saxophonist Eli Hershiser for a 2-hour jazz workshop deep-diving into the Great American Songbook. Participants will have the opportunity to study and perform songs from the most impactful American composers including George and Ira Gerswhin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, Irving Berlin and more!

Throughout this course, students will learn how to improvise over some of the most important jazz forms and structures, as well as identify the specific composition techniques that made each of the above composers stand out to create timeless music.
