Caption-
Nayanaa Kanodia turns the familiar into a spectacle, where the Indian middle class becomes both subject and stage.

An economist-turned artist, Kanodia is a self-taught practitioner of naïve art. Her work leans into the quirky and the narrative, often brushing against kitsch. Drawing on a wide visual vocabulary shaped by popular culture, she captures the subtle tensions and tender undercurrents that animate everyday relationships and social worlds.

With her solo show ‘Staged Realities’ curated by Archana Khare Ghose, she invites us to look closely at the theatre of domestic life. We encounter familiar figures in the privacy of their homes, at family picnics, chaat parties, and playing card games.

Families, complete with children, grandchildren, pet dogs and cats, and all the paraphernalia of home life, unfold in scenes that feel both familiar and faintly theatrical. We are not alone in this vicarious passage; accompanying us are misplaced animals from the wild, peering out from behind Rousseau-esque greenery.

Step into Staged Realities, where you are not just a visitor!

🗓️ On view 27 April 2026 onwards

Art is what happens when imagination refuses to stay quiet when thoughts, emotions, and a little bit of chaos come together to create something meaningful. It doesn’t always follow rules, and that’s exactly the point.

This World Art Day, celebrate the scribbles, the splashes, the “what ifs,” and the beautifully perfectly imperfect ideas. Because sometimes, the most unexpected creations say the most. 🎨✨

This Easter, we’re looking at eggs a little differently.

Here is Prodosh Das Gupta’s iconic Egg series— Egg Bride, Egg Bird, Egg Family and Remorse of an Egg. He was one of India’s most influential sculptors bridging modernity, convention, and culture with remarkable ease.

Das Gupta believed a sure line with an unchecked sensuous flow, when placed just right, could throb with life. That same clarity shapes these works, where smooth curves hold a careful balance of mass and emptiness.

A founding member of the Calcutta Group, he helped shape the course of modern Indian art.
