Will Erat, as Mr. Everybody Else, plays nine different characters in Mark Felt, Superstar.
YOU PLAY AL HAIG, L. PATRICK GRAY, PAT BUCHANAN, HAL HOLBROOK, AND JOHN MITCHELL, among others. WHICH ONE DO YOU FIND MOST ENJOYABLE, AND WHY?
I enjoy playing all the different parts, it keeps me on my toes! I have a special place in my heart for Stan Pottinger--his courtroom scene is a lot of fun; but the character I really love to play is L Patrick Gray. This one is a little longer and includes a song. I get to develop him a bit and delve into his psyche. "Slowly In The Wind" has a pretty clear arc and I appreciate that.
DO YOU THINK WOODWARD AND/OR BERNSTEIN SHOULD SEE THIS SHOW?
YES! I'd love to see Woodward and/or Bernstein in the front row! If we can't get them I'd settle for Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford.
WHAT’S SOMETHING PEOPLE PROBABLY DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I love to cook, read, watch TV, and am a WNYC ju**ie.

DO YOU THINK HE SHOULD COME TO SEE “MARK FELT, SUPERSTAR”? WHY?
Yes. Being reminded of your younger sexier self is always worth the price of admission.

DO YOU THINK A SHOW ABOUT WATERGATE IS RELEVANT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE RECENT ELECTION?
Unfortunately, political corruption and criminal behavior at the highest levels of the US government is always relevant. Watergate seems quaint by today's standards in the sense that the search for and revelation of the facts mattered and had huge consequences for Nixon and for the country. In the current post-fact era, denials and falsehoods seem good enough for a large segment of the population. Still, Watergate seems to me to be the first great disillusionment with the idea that our presidents are perhaps a step above the ordinary in terms of intelligence and ethics - that they might, at the very least, embody our best selves. Now, that a president might embody our least admirable impulses and thoughts has become proof that he is "telling it like it is" and consequently is deserving of the presidency.

WHAT’S SOMETHING PEOPLE PROBABLY DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I am deaf in one ear so I sleep very well when my good ear is on the pillow and I can't hear you when I'm driving.

WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD SEE THIS SHOW?
When I first became involved in Mark Felt, Superstar, I found it interesting to be a part of a musical that addressed such an infamous political scandal, but thought its appeal might be limited to those who lived during the Nixon administration. With today's political intrigues unfolding daily, I now think Mark Felt is a must-see cautionary tale of what can occur when politics run amok and our intelligence agencies are subverted. It is with both fascination and horror that I read articles in the Times lately that draw parallels between Nixon and Trump. I can only hope that Trump's administration meets a similar end. Perhaps one person will succeed in bringing down our current demagogue and be a modern day "Deep Throat". I hope today's journalists are inspired by this story to uphold the truth at any cost. I also hope we all live to see Josh's take on the Trump administration's downfall. I'll do the Russian translation.

WHO IS THE TRUTH-SEEKER SUPPOSED TO BE? Felt’s conscience. Or God.

DO YOU THINK A SHOW ABOUT WATERGATE IS RELEVANT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE RECENT ELECTION? Yes--Watergate seems so simple and almost “quaint” after the daily atrocities we’ve been treated to by the Cheetos-Jesus.

WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME TO SEE MARK FELT, SUPERSTAR? It is entertaining and informative. And it has some great tunes.
