We are honored to announce that "The Garbage Monster" will be presented at the Healthcare Clowning International Meeting (HCIM) from March 11–13.

This documentary, created by Ahmed Moussa, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Theatre for Climate Justice (TFCJ) and Clowns Without Borders USA project’s 2024 residency in Egypt. You can check it out at the link in our bio 🔗.

We wish we could join all the healthcare clowns in Switzerland for the conference. TFCJ remains deeply connected to the HCIM community and the intersection of arts, health, and environmental justice.

The 12-day tour has come to an end, a journey filled with laughter, play, and countless moments of connection.
From city streets to small community centers, every performance reminded us of the power of joy and imagination, and how laughter can bring people together even in the most difficult places.

A huge thank you to Clowns Without Borders USA for making this journey possible, and to our incredible team; Diaa, Sami, Saly, Tarek, and Asma, for their hearts, their energy, and the magic they bring to every show.

It’s not really goodbye, just another pause before the next adventure. ❤️

خلصت جولتنا اللي استمرت ١٢ يوم، رحلة مليانة ضحك، ولعب، ولحظات تواصل لا تُنسى.
من شوارع المدينة لبيوت المجتمعات الصغيرة، كل عرض فكرنا بقوة البهجة والخيال، وإن الضحك دايماً بيجمع الناس حتى في أصعب الأماكن.

شكر كبير لـ Clowns Without Borders USA اللي خلت الرحلة دي ممكنة، ولفريقنا الرائع ضياء، سامي، سالي، طارق، وأسماء على قلوبهم وطاقتهم والسحر اللي بيخلقوه في كل عرض.

مش وداع، بس وقفة قصيرة قبل المغامرة الجاية ❤️

Today’s show was full of emotion, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Among the audience were children and adults with disabilities, and their presence made the experience deeply special. Their energy, honesty, and deep connection to the story filled the space with warmth and life.

Tarek, one of the actors, said:

"Their energy and engagement with us was incredible. They were so passionate in their responses, showing how deeply they were immersed in the story. Physically, they were moved, wanting to dance and imitate the movements. It happened with me before and after the show, and it was something magical.”

Days like this remind us that joy and play have no limits, and that laughter can bridge any distance, reaching everyone’s heart. ❤️

النهارده كان العرض مليان مشاعر وضحك ولحظات صعب تتنسي. من بين الجمهور كان في أطفال وكبار من ذوي الهمم، وجودهم خلى التجربة مختلفة تماماً، طاقتهم وصدقهم وتفاعلهم العميق مع القصة ملوا المكان حياة ودفء.

طارق أحد ممثلي العرض قال:

"في عرض النهارده قبل العرض وبعده وخلاله، وجود جمهور من ذوي الهمم والقدرات الخاصة كان مختلف تماماً، طاقتهم وتلاحمهم معانا قبل العرض وبعده وخلاله كان واضح جداً. كانوا بيتفاعلوا بقوة في إجاباتهم، وده بيعكس اندماجهم الشديد مع العرض. وخركياً كانوا متأثرين وعاوزين يرقصوا ويقلدوا الحركات، وده حصل معايا قبل العرض وبعده، وكان شيء سحري.”

أيام زي دي بتفكرنا إن البهجة واللعب ملهومش حدود، وإن الضحك دايماً له طريقة يوصل بيها لكل القلوب ❤️

Today during the Dead or Alive scene, the kids were completely immersed in the story, they weren’t just watching, they were feeling every moment. One little girl, Jenane, ran to tell the clowns that their friend wasn’t really dead, she was alive! She held Saly’s hand tightly, trying to convince everyone.

Saly said,
“One of the most memorable moments for me was during Dead or Alive. A little girl named Jenane came to me, held my hand tightly, and kept saying, ‘She is alive! She is alive!’ She tried to pull every other clown to show them that I was alive too. The other kids joined in, shouting that I was alive too.”

Moments like this show how deeply children connect to the story. Through laughter and play, they start to think differently, about caring, about responsibility, and even about the world around them. The story may be about garbage, but what they take away is empathy and a new awareness of how their small actions can protect the environment.

انهاردة الأطفال في فقرة "عايش ولا ميت" كانوا عايشين القصة بكل تفاصيلها، ماكانوش بيتفرجوا وبس، كانوا حاسين بكل لحظة. بنت صغيرة اسمها جينان جريت تقول للمهرجين إن صاحبتهم مش ميتة فعلاً، دي عايشة! مسكت إيد سالي جامد، وفضلت تحاول تقنع الكل إنها عايشة.

سالي قالت:
"من أكتر اللحظات اللي مش ممكن أنساها كانت في فقرة عايش ولا ميت، بنت صغيرة اسمها جينان مسكت إيدي جامد وفضلت تقول لي: «دي عايشة! دي عايشة!» وكانت بتحاول تشد كل المهرجين التانيين عشان توريلهم إني فعلاً عايشة، والأطفال التانيين انضموا ليها وهم بيهتفوا إنّي عايشة كمان."

اللحظات دي بتورينا قد إيه الأطفال بيتفاعلوا بعمق مع القصة، ومن خلال اللعب والضحك بيبدؤوا يفكروا بطريقة مختلفة، عن الاهتمام، وعن المسؤولية، وحتى عن البيئة اللي حواليهم. القصة ممكن تكون عن القمامة، لكن الرسالة الحقيقية عن الرحمة، والوعي، والتغيير.

Today was a special day 🌟

We had two shows at UNHCR Egypt and a workshop for the staff, moments full of laughter, connection, and light. In a place that holds so many stories of resilience, hardship, and hope, the energy of clown and play felt powerful, almost healing..

Tarek one of the actors on the team says:

“Playing with the children before the first show transformed the waiting area into a space filled with ease and joy. It made the kids more open and the parents more comfortable, seeing their children happy and relaxed enough to just play.”

We saw that light in everyone’s eyes, kids and adults alike. Sometimes a few moments of play bring more than smiles; they remind us that hope is something we create together ❤️

النهارده كان يوم مميز جدًا 🌟

عملنا عرضين في مفوضية الأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين في مصر وكمان ورشة لفريق العمل، لحظات مليانة ضحك وتواصل ونور. في مكان بيشوف كتير من المعاناة اللي بيعيشها الناس اللي اتنزحوا، كانت طاقة الكلاون واللعب قوية جدًا، شبه العلاج.

طارق أحد ممثلين العرض بيقول:

"اللعب مع الأطفال قبل العرض الأول حول مساحة الانتظار لمساحة فيها طاقة تانية من الانبساط والتهوين، وخلى الأطفال منطلقين، والأهالي مرتاحين إن ولادهم مبسوطين ومطمنين يسيبوهم يتبسطوا."

النهارده شفنا النور ده في عيون الكل، الأطفال والكبار. اللعب ساعات بيقدم أكتر من الضحك، بيفكرنا إن الأمل حاجة بنخلقها سوا ❤️

The Sleepy Oracle has officially become an audience favorite

In every show, the moment she falls asleep, the kids can’t hold back, they shout, laugh, and beg us to wake her up. But today, something magical happened.

Sami, one of the actors, said:

“In the second show, the moment when the kids wanted the oracle to wake up, they were saying it on the beat … wake her up, wake her up … صحيها … صحيها.”

That rhythm, that energy, that shared heartbeat between us and hundreds of kids, it’s what makes this show alive. ❤️

فقرة العرافة النائمة بقت رسميًا من أكتر اللحظات اللي الجمهور بيحبها

كل مرة العرافة تنام، الأطفال ما بيقدروش يمسكوا نفسهم، بيضحكوا، ويصرخوا، وبيطلبوا مننا نصحيها. لكن النهارده حصلت لحظة سحرية.

سامي أحد ممثلين العرض قال:

"في العرض التاني، اللحظة اللي الأطفال كانوا عايزين يصحوا فيها العرافة، كانوا بيقولوا على الإيقاع… صحيها … صحيها."

الإيقاع ده، والطاقة دي، والإحساس إن في نبض واحد بينا وبين مئات الأطفال, هو اللي بيخلي العرض عايش ❤️

We had around 360 kids in the audience today, full of energy, laughter, and focus. They weren’t just watching; they were with us, listening carefully, engaging with every moment, and playing along with the story. It was one of those shows where the connection between us and the audience felt electric ⚡

Diaa one of the actors on the team said:

"In the first show, there was almost a chorus of 360 children trying to solve the problem with us, playing, joking, and joining in. I was so happy with their energy, even after the show, when they wanted to shake hands and take photos with us.”

Days like this remind us how powerful play, laughter, and connection can be, especially when shared with hundreds of curious, joyful kids ❤️

النهارده كان عندنا حوالي ٣٦٠ طفل في العرض، طاقة، وضحك، وتركيز. الأطفال ماكانوش بيتفرجوا بس، كانوا معانا في كل لحظة، بيسمعوا كويس، وبيشاركوا، وبيعيشوا القصة بكل حماس. كان واحد من العروض اللي بتحس فيها بطاقة حقيقية بينا وبين الجمهور ⚡

ضياء أحد ممثلين العرض بيقول:

"في الحفلة الأولي فجأة أصبح هناك كورس مكون من ٣٦٠ طفل تقريباً بيحاولوا يحلوا معانا المشكلة، بيلعبوا ويهزروا وبيشاركوا، وكنت سعيد جداً بطاقة الأطفال حتي بعد العرض وهما بيحاولوا يسلموا علينا ويتصوروا معانا.»

أيام زي دي بتفكرنا قد إيه اللعب والضحك والتواصل ليهم قوة كبيرة، خصوصاً لما بنشاركهم مع مئات الأطفال الفضوليين والمليانين بهجة ❤️

“Have you seen the plastic cow with two heads?!”

That’s one of the questions shouted in the middle of our search for clues to find The Garbage Monster! Every time that line echoes through the crowd, the kids jump in to help us look — pointing, shouting, and joining the adventure.

Today’s show was full of that energy — curiosity, laughter, and the kind of teamwork that makes the story come alive ❤️

«حد شاف البقرة البلاستيك ام راسين؟!»

دي واحدة من الجمل اللي بنقولها وإحنا بندوّر على الأدلة علشان نلاقي وحش الزبالة! كل مرة الجملة دي بتتقال، الأطفال بيقوموا يساعدونا — بيشاوروا، ويهتفوا، ويدخلوا معانا في المغامرة.

عرض النهارده كان مليان طاقة وضحك وفضول، والإحساس إن الكل جزء من الحكاية ❤️

Today we returned to Dari - which means “my home” in Arabic - an organization that supports Palestinian refugees in Cairo, including a beautiful school community.

We first met these incredible kids in July through workshops and a performance, and today we came back to share The Garbage Monster. From the moment the show began, they were fully with us, searching for the monster, shouting ideas, jumping onto the stage to help our characters, and offering brilliant solutions for how to care for the earth.

They played, danced, and hugged with such wholehearted joy that the space felt truly alive. We left filled with gratitude for their imagination, curiosity, and courage.

Week one on tour 🎪✨

What a week it’s been, full of laughter, long rides, new friends, and so many unforgettable moments. From the first day’s nervous excitement to the kids’ unstoppable energy and the adults’ warm smiles, every stop has reminded us why we do this.

أول أسبوع في الجولة 🎪✨

كان أسبوع مليان ضحك، وسفر كتير، وناس جديدة، ولحظات مش هتتنسي. من حماس أول يوم، لطاقة الأطفال اللي ما بتخلصش، ولابتسامة الكبار اللي بتدفي القلب — كل محطة فكرّتنا إحنا ليه بنعمل اللي بنعمله.

دي شوية من صورنا المفضلة من أول أسبوع في جولة عرض وحش الزبالة — لحظات فرح ولعب واتصال حقيقي، واخدينها معانا وإحنا مكملين ❤️

Today we performed at دار الحياة (Dar El Haya) — The Yemen Foundation for Cancer Care and Charity. ❤️

After the show, they told us how our presence and energy made the place feel alive again. That really touched us. We often take this energy — the laughter, the jokes, the friendship between us — for granted. But today, it felt different.

It reminded us that what feels normal to us — the way we play, laugh, and connect — can be something deeply needed in other spaces. A reminder that joy isn’t small; it’s a kind of life force.

النهارده قدمنا عرض في دار الحياة — مؤسسة اليمن لرعاية مرضى السرطان والأعمال الخيرية. ❤️

بعد العرض قالولنا إن وجودنا وطاقتنا خلى المكان يحس إنه عايش تاني. الكلام ده لمسنا جدًا. إحنا ساعات بناخد الطاقة دي كأنها حاجة عادية — الضحك، الهزار، الصحوبية اللي بينا — بس النهارده حسينا بيها بشكل تاني.

فكرتنا إن اللي إحنا شايفينه عادي — طريقة لعبنا وضحكنا واتصالنا ببعض — ممكن يكون حاجة الناس محتاجاها فعلًا. تذكير إن الفرح مش حاجة بسيطة، الفرح حياة.

Day 2 on tour

Nothing beats the moment we arrive at the performance space — the laughter, the shouting, the waves, and the curious faces waiting for what’s about to happen. Kids running up to us, adults smiling from a distance, then joining in — that energy fills the whole place before the show even starts.

Every welcome reminds us why we’re here: to share joy, to connect, and to celebrate play together 🤡❤️
