How did we light this scene? I can start by saying that we had to shoot at night, and it was snowing.
With a really nimble approach, and limited amount of gear, Gaffer and Key Grip helped me create the look I wanted.

I truly love the way this frame looks.

This is the result of a very simple lighting setup that Gaffer and Key Grip have created for me, in a room where candle light was not allowed. We created candle lights with commonly available led candles.
This setup was made of two custom made lanterns containing one .lighting Storm 80c each, hanging from a mega-boom above the dining table.
The show was shot with ARRI Alexa 35 paired with Apollo lenses.
In the scene, incredibly talented Ever Anderson and Jill Hennessy.

Here you can see me in my element. There is nothing more fulfilling than being on set, when all the elements are combined and getting to the right place; the room gets quiet and the actors are about to start their performance.

I knew the day I read the first draft of episode one of “The Artist” that this would have been something special, hard to define, something never seen before. Making it was exhilarating, exhausting, at times painful, but above all an exciting and wonderful experience. The energy of Mandy Patinkin and Aram Rappaport together was beautiful to witness and truly inspiring. And here we are, on The New York Times. Congratulations to everyone who worked passionately and made this possible.

Another stunning view of the financial district in Manhattan, captured from the window of the plane, with my phone.
The combination of the trajectory of the Delta aircraft, low clouds and golden sunset resulted in one of my favorite random capture of all times.
