7-8pm: Jordan Guldman is a trumpeter and composer noted for their creative approach and warm sound. Jordan is a student of Eddie Henderson, Ingrid Jensen and Gary Bartz. They will be joined by fellow Manhattan School of Music alum and award winning trumpeter Carter Eng to explore the music of Lennie Tristano as well as original compositions.
8-9pm [Featured]: The distance between modern post-bop sounds and free jazz suffused with high-tech experimentalism narrows significantly on the new CD Quare from Andre Matos, a brilliant young guitarist and Portuguese native now living in the United States. mattitos
9-10pm: Jonathan Arcangel is an award-winning saxophonist and jazz writer. An avid composer and arranger, Arcangel strives to create authentic and thought-provoking music that has a deep emotional and spiritual impact on the listener.
10-12am: Peter Haensel is a New York–based tenor saxophonist rooted in the hard-bop and post-bop tradition. A master’s graduate of the Eastman School of Music, he has held lead tenor positions in top ensembles including the Eastman Jazz Ensemble, National Jazz Workshop All-Star Jazz Ensemble, and the Manhattan Jazz Alliance. Haensel has performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center and Blues Alley, and studied with artists including Charles Pillow, David Pope, and George Coleman.
