Around this time last year we were rehearsing Akira & the Merpeople for the Polyphone Festival of the Emerging Musical. In early March we had to cancel due to Covid. 😢We wish that people could have seen the musical staged. Without that time to develop the show we might not have this new demo entitled Truth Trapped in my Throat. 🧜‍♀️🧜🧜‍♂️Our director, Rebecca Wright had beautifully staged this song! It’s OH-Fish 🐠!!!!

University of the Arts' Ira Brind School of Theater Arts has announced the lineup for the sixth annual Polyphone, a 'festival of the emerging musical.' The 5-day festival will take place in the Arts Bank and Wilma Theater on Broad Street in Philadelphia, April 7-11, 2020.

There is a line about wombats in Akira & the Merpeople. Wombat faces became part of our audition. It is no accident that wombats are doing the most right now to help other animals survive. Wombats = Water Diviners

Wombats are being hailed as heroes for burrowing down to an underground soak, supplying water to an array of native fauna hit hard by drought.
