Dear Studio Six Friends and Supporters,
We hope this e-blast finds you safe with heat, hot water and electricity!
It’s been some time since you have heard from us and we think an update is in order.
2012:
In January we returned to Moscow with “Town. A History.” We performed with SounDrama at the historic Mossoviet Theater.
Karen has been reporting for the English language news station Russia Today. Jill is teaching at Wayne State University, while Vaz teaches at Butler University. Matt and Vaz have both joined the Moscow Art Theater School USA this past summer as associate teachers of The Summer Stanislavsky Summer School.
June found Studio Six in Moldova as part of a festival of young directors where we reunited with SounDrama once again for “Town. A HIstory.” It was a magical week in a beautiful country we never imagined visiting - let alone performing in!
Taylor is directing The Little Prince in his homeland while Adam is directing a graduate production at The Moscow Art Theater School in his now-home-town. Adam will be hosting a new radio show on MoscowFM as well. Raphael has also found a new home with his wife, Chloe, near DC - where he puts his acting and comedic skills to work (shhh!) at the occasional open mic.
Matt is a Fulbright Scholar! He is back in Moscow studying pedagogy under the teachers and directors at The Moscow Art Theater School. He is also working on getting a new Studio Six production on its feet in Moscow in the coming year. More on that as developments occur...
Alesia continues to teach children’s theater and acting in St. Johns - yes, the one with the beaches and palm trees. Nicole has started coaching actors and teaching Pilates while working on an experimental theater piece with AliveWire Theatrics and a new Russian play that will bring you into the ensemble!
Ben and Nicole are developing a class for actors who want to stay in shape using the principles and group exercises taught in our Alma Mater. More on that soon too.
It has been a formative year for many of us as we have searched out new experiences and opportunities across the globe.
And as you can tell Studio Six is growing in many directions - particularly an educational one.
Thanks for taking the time to read this - and being our friend. Look out for more updates in the much nearer future!
Sincerely,
the Studio Six Gang
