The Basement by Reggie Fayton

Behind closed doors, some families carry struggles that the outside world never sees.

*The Basement* explores mental illness in the Black community and the silence, fear, and stigma that can prevent families from seeking help. At the center of the story is Cynthia, a devoted mother trying to protect her family while confronting painful truths that can no longer remain hidden.

Powerful and deeply human, *The Basement* reminds us that silence does not make suffering disappearβ€”and that healing often begins when someone finds the courage to speak.

See *The Basement* as part of **Acts of Breaking Silence**, HoneyVic Productions’ 2026 Playwrighting for Social Change Festival.

What do you assume about someone who is homeless? Jack and Sue are here to change that. Homelessness doesn't mean disconnected β€” it means unseen. Homeless Not Hopeless by Juanda Hall invites you to look again.

Have you ever felt like you were falling apart but couldn't tell a soul? Too many of us carry that weight in silence β€” and it doesn't have to be that way.
The Basement by Reggie Fayton Jr. brings that truth to the stage. Jerome is navigating mental illness while keeping up appearances β€” and the silence surrounding him is deafening.
This is the play that finally says it out loud.

When the ones guarding you are also the ones deciding what freedom means β€” who really has the power?

Silent Farms by Mobin Aslani is a haunting allegory about fear, control, and the courage it takes to question everything you've been told to believe. In a stable where the rules are set by those who benefit from your obedience, one voice dares to ask: what if the danger outside isn't as real as the cage you're already in?
A story for anyone who has ever been told that freedom is too dangerous to want.

Before we move forward, we need to reckon with the debt we're leaving behind. From slavery to Tulsa to the fight for justice today, the bill is still uncollected.
The Reckoning by Shahid Hopson & Juanda Hall puts the argument for reparations on stage β€” not as a plea, but as an accounting. Four voices. Four truths. One question that keeps returning: if the harm was collective, systemic, and intentional β€” what does justice require?
This isn't a comfortable play. It's a necessary one.

At , we believe theater should shake something loose in you.

This summer, four original voices tackling the stories that matter most β€” mental health, homelessness, racial justice, and the courage it takes to question what you've been told to believe.

One urgent festival. Four plays. Countless conversations waiting to happen.
