Vendor Spotlight~ Pride at the Pottery this Saturday 6/27 🏳️‍🌈
1- Carlos Lara is inspired by the projects and ideas that he explores in class with students. Blending functional pottery with sculptural forms, these works highlight the playful nature of working with clay and the experimentation with the glazes.
2- Rebecca Grant is a Brooklyn-based ceramicist who was born and raised in Miami. Her functional hand-built work explores grief, nostalgia, spirituality, and the changing landscapes that have shaped her life.
3- Liam Kelly (they/them) is a q***r and trans ceramic artist based in Brooklyn. Their handbuilt work spans functional and sculptural forms, from everyday vessels to lamps and one of a kind pieces. They also teach and collaborate within the ceramics community to support a more inclusive studio culture. .goods
4--Olivia Ling is an independent ceramic artist based in New York City. she creates playful, functional pottery and large sculptural vessels that blur the line between utility and art. Olivia is inspired by much of the natural world (oysters, roots, organic forms) and has recently been exploring growing chia and other plant life directly onto her vessels.
5-Meghan Stanley is a q***r/lesbian mixed media artist working primarily in ceramic sculpture. Stanley's work explores femininity, bodily transformation, and abjection through distorted biomorphic forms inspired by organs, flesh, and reproductive anatomy. Combining clay with materials like lace, pearls, and silicone, she creates pieces that exist between attraction and discomfort. ._

There's something special about watching a kid press their hands into clay for the first time. 🤎
This summer, our Youth Clay Camp (ages 7–12) gives young artists a place to slow down, get creative, and make something real—from their first pinch pot to a glazed work of art. All materials, tools, and firing included. Just bring the curiosity.

Calling all teens: get ready to get muddy! 🤎
Summer at Greenwich House Pottery means screen-free days, creative chaos, and taking home something you actually made with your hands. Our our Teen Wheel Intensive (ages 13–17) is two full weeks on the potter's wheel, learning everything from centering clay to finishing a glazed, fired piece. Taught by real artists in a real working studio--all materials and firing included. Confidence-building never looked so messy. 🏺

We are pleased to invite you as Greenwich House Pottery hosts
Pitchers of American Life: Art Within Reach, a book talk with Ezra Shales
June 2nd 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Greenwich House Theater on 27 Barrow St.
Shales' New book explores the tactile pleasures of drinking vessels and traces the role of these objects as representative art and collective tools—episodes of American history that resonate today in our everyday lives and yearnings for sociability and communion. Discussion ranges from vessels within ancient cultures and religious and family rituals to the growth of mass production and contemporary consumer culture. Shales blends the social histories of art/artifacts with memories of working on a museum installation crew, educating students and himself, and finding a treasure in a yard sale; in each chapter he interprets a single object as a revealing time capsule. Might learning to love a chipped old jug be a better way to cope with aging than other prescriptions? This history of art in a cupboard can liberate us from the usual hierarchies of civilization and the expense of the Grand Tour to build compassion with our immense amount of old stuff.

We’re thrilled to welcome Jinsik Yoo back to Greenwich House Pottery for a full-day demonstration exploring the expressive possibilities of abstracted figurative sculpture. Working with slabs, Jinsik will guide participants through his process of creating human figures—from the first sketch to the final form.

The day begins with an artist talk, offering a window into Jinsik’s practice and the ideas that drive his sculpture. From there, he’ll demonstrate the figure sketching and collage drawing exercises at the heart of his process: a way of thinking through form on paper before ever touching clay.

The bulk of the workshop focuses on the hands-on work of building with slabs. Jinsik will demonstrate several structural approaches—showing how he constructs, edits, and refines form using the collage drawings as a guide. Expect an honest look at the technical decisions that go into abstracted figurative work: how to build something that holds together structurally while staying alive as a sculpture.

Toward the end of the day, Jinsik will share finished works alongside practical insights into glazing, surface treatment, and the lessons learned from his studio practice—the kind of hard-won knowledge that doesn’t always make it into a technique book.

Tuition for this workshop is $150. Current students receive $30 off, contact registration office prior to registration. Follow the link in our bio to register.
