Em&Ahr was founded on the streets of New York City with its first designs created in 2009, but only recently showcased online. The name Em&Ahr is the phonetic initials(M.R) of the creator of this fabric art, Martin Rosenthal. T-Shirts are composed of an aesthetic sentimentality harkening a time with great writers, musicians, and cinematographers. While other designs are inspired by personal experi

A pioneer and icon of the beat generation, Jack Kerouac was an American novelist and poet best known for his broad vision and influential work. A stylish personality reflected in his work which is a blend of issues ranging from poverty, drugs and traveling to jazz, spirituality and Buddhism.

Many may not be aware but to subsidize his art & support his life, Kerouac worked as a lineman in the railroad, using a lantern to walk the tracks at night, thus the lamp in the painting.

At the time Mozambique was a Portuguese colony, stealing was severely punished. A thief would be chained to a sandbar 500 feet offshore at low tide; at high tide, the person would drown. I wondered what this rusted shackle, its chain stilled fastened to a heavy stone, was doing on the sandbar. Thievery was still very prolific when I was there, and just the sight of me presented an opportunity.

Trains still ran on coal then. The coal was loaded by men carrying straw baskets, walking in a line and emptying them into the tender behind the locomotive. As a passenger, I would sometimes open the window for some air, but the smoke and cinders from the coal would blow right into the carriage. In India, as you live, everything becomes a compromise.

A tailor known for crafting six-pocketed pouches with drawstrings. Every morning, his 10 year old son would oil the joints of the sewing machine while his father visited the temple. They were Marathis, proud vegetarians, living a simple and healthy life in cotton country.
