We love music and music history! 🎶 🎸 Now more than ever, it is important to create a time and a place for people to gather. United Sounds celebrates these communities and independent cultures.

We are enthusiastic to share these photos from archive by Drew Carolan 

Vault Works was started in 2020 by United Sounds cofounders Shay Vishawadia and Dipesh Sinha, and their collaborator Anik Sood.

Drew Carolan was born and raised in NYC. He began photographing his surroundings in NYC in the 1970’s. His love for music attracted him to clubs in the neighborhood where he photographed jazz, blues, and the burgeoning underground music scene. In the early 1980’s, Drew apprenticed with several top photographers including Richard Avedon and Bruce Weber. His monograph, “Matinee: All Ages on the Bowery” captures the beauty, vulnerability, and the unbridled energy of the youth attending hardcore matinees at CBGB in the early 1980’s.
