Alongside other nations unable to stabilize their domestic economies, Russia fell victim to the excessive political ambitions of a ruling dictatorship that suppressed scientific and technological advancement to maintain power. This led to a fatal unpreparedness to resist the onslaught of internal and external threats amidst escalating technological, social, and humanitarian disasters. The causes o
f the cataclysm were diverse and complex, ranging from inadequate and corrupt economic management to a lack of strategic planning to prevent economic and social crises. Underestimating the threats posed by emerging technologies and an inability to adapt to changing conditions contributed to the disaster’s inevitability. Obsolete military technologies employed in defense robots proved incapable of protecting cities, while the remaining assault squads struggled to fend off zombie armies at the fringes of territories and in contaminated zones. Now, ordinary people strive to survive, relying solely on themselves and using remnants of past technologies. This is difficult and dangerous, but they cannot abandon the singular value of freedom. As the government can no longer control the situation, survivors attempt to build new cities and communities based on cooperation and trust. By gathering and restoring lost technologies, they organize military operations in cities against zombies to reclaim residential and industrial areas. Due to the societal collapse, no scientific groups or research institutes remain in the world, leaving the exact cause of the zombie emergence unknown. It might be one consequence of oppression and restriction on scientific progress, or an unexpected outcome of some biological catastrophe. Either way, zombies pose a threat to the small number of people who have survived the nation's collapse. Zhilzona—a small territory in northern Russia—was once a thriving community but became abandoned and forgotten by the rest of the world after the disaster. Many inhabitants moved to other places, leaving behind empty houses, underpopulated and neglected districts as reminders of the past. Zhilzona is a place of despair and loss, where ruins and memories are all that remain of a former life. A mysterious atmosphere permeates Zhilzona, attracting those who seek to unravel it. Despite the hardships, people remain in Zhilzona, searching for ways to survive and striving to preserve small communities. Many adapt to new lifestyles, rebuild homes, and attempt to create at least partially normal living conditions. Though life in Zhilzona may seem arduous and perilous, for many it remains the only hope for a future.
