A sure sign that I am loving a project is that I forget to take pictures. A second is that I forget to tell anyone about it until the last minute. Luckily, a Senior in my Workshop at Project Find Clinton Senior Citizen Center snapped this pic today, inspiring me to post a full two days in advance of our performance! Needless to say, I am fully immersed and engaged, delighted to be learning from a devoted, creative and brave group of older adults, who have amazing stories! Please come enjoy the fruits of their labor, as they share stories of their lifetimes this Friday, June 24 at 10am. A light breakfast will be served.

I am delighted to be a second time Su-Casa Artist in Residence with the phenomenal support of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and the granting organizations credited below. I heart NY.

Laura Pruden is a participant in SU-CASA. This program is supported by public funds from the New York City Council, in partnership with the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the NYC Department for the Aging. It is carried out in collaboration with New York City’s local arts councils. Additional
support is provided by the Tiger Barron Foundation. LMCC.net

I applied for a grant, but couldn’t upload my work sample. So, I submit to you — and any jurors who happen to visit this page🤞— a clip of What to Wear to a Fish Funeral, performed at WORD The Story Telling Show at Sidewalk NYC in 2019. You never know!!

Delighted that this popped up on my phone today — a wonderful memory of the amazing storytellers at Union Settlement in East Harlem. It was an honor to mentor them and they taught me so much!! Su-Casa is a fantastic artist residency program that places artists in senior centers throughout the five boroughs. Here’s hoping it will be back and in person in 2021!

My 2018 residency was made possible by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York City Council, NYC Department for the Aging and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council
