St. Jean's Players

St. Jean's Players Community Theatre We are part of the community at historic St. Jean Baptiste Church in New York City. We do straight plays, musicals, and original works.

We do three shows a year, generally in February, May, and November. All of our shows are presented in the auditorium of St. Jean Baptiste High School at 167 East 75 Street between Third and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. We are always open to new members, so anyone in the area who's interested in performing or working backstage can sign-up at an audition or speak to the House Manager during a performance.

For budgetary and practical reasons, we can't build sets that move on and off stage as scenes change. As a result, we have taken a more impressionistic approach. In that regard, we have been fortunate to benefit from the talents of artist Greg Guiteras, who hand-painted our backdrops and other scenic elements from the 1990s through the 2010s.

From the windswept plains of Oklahoma! to the gritty urban landscape of Annie, Greg's work set the scene perfectly without being overly literal. This 3-minute video showcases many of Greg's creations over the years. You may even see YOURSELF in one of the photos! If it inspires you, make a donation to keep us going at:
