🎶✨ iSING! Meets the Philadelphia Orchestra ✨🎶 It does not get better than this! This article by Rick Perdian of Operawire beautifully captures the incredible journey of iSING!—a groundbreaking program that started as iSING! Beijing in 2011 and has grown into a global sensation. Thomas Glenn who was one of the original artists in 2011, and participates in the latest endeavor with The Philadelphia Orchestra reflected: "We had no idea it would evolve into something like this." At the heart of iSING! is the vision of Hao Jiang Tian, a creative force with a 20-year legacy at the Met Opera, and his wife Martha Liao, a trailblazing geneticist who introduced recombinant DNA technology to China and is also a concert pianist. Together, they’ve changed the lives of countless young artists worldwide with their innovative programs. Another major force in the program is the Music Director, since 2011 - Katherine Chu. Chu has been Dean of the Tianjin Juliliard School since July 2022. For many years prior to this she as the musical assistant to the legendary Seiji Ozawa.

This latest triumph, Echoes of Ancient Tang Poetry, included the world premiere of Mason Bates’ “Spring River Flowers by Moonlight”, performed by Valdis Jansons—another original iSING! artist—and Maureen Kelly.

iSING! was founded by the Asian Performing Arts Council headed by Dr. Martha Liao, a former geneticist and one of the earliest scientists to introduce recombinant DNA technology to China.
