An interesting interview with Maestro Ron Carter on CBS Sunday Morning yesterday. As was mentioned, he had not yet arrived to New York in 1958 so he was not in the picture, but he did know many of the jazz musicians and performed and recorded with them over the years.

We're happy to note that in 2019 Jonathan Kane, son of photographer Art Kane, did a presentation and book-signing for us at the UN Bookshop on the release of his 60th anniversary book he compiled of his father's photos, "Art Kane: Harlem 1958". We discovered that between 1959-1963 several of those 58 jazz musicians in his father's iconic photo had performed at the UN at the invitation of our Jazz Society, or had given informal lunchtime talks for the Jazz Society members who were also UN staff. It was a great era in jazz.
