Will these gates sag? Built a couple of gates over the week. Both are built with cedar and "SIMPSON STRONG-TIE 90 Degree G185 Rigid Tie Angle - ZMAX Finish" for the corners of the frame. I was hoping to avoid a cross brace to keep sight lines clear but am wondering if I need to throw an anti sag cable to keep it square.

Ultimately, time will tell, but curious if people think I should do so proactively.

Truss Modification, The window in this photo needs to come down 10” to match the window heights in other rooms and to match what the home plans show. The builder is saying because the window is already sitting on top of the truss it can’t come down lower.

My question is whether the truss in the way can be modified? If I ask the builder to contact the truss designer/manufacturer and determined how to modify it, am I wasting my breath or can it be done?

Window Header Above Top Plate? On the gable wall I am looking into adding a wide and short window, pushed up close to my top plate.

My carpenter said he could do an LVL above the top wall plate in this scenario.

I couldn’t find many examples of this online or mentions of it in the code book. Is this a valid way to build a window header?

Just the update that nobody was asking for. I tackled my garage truss repair with my dad. Supported from underneath with shoring posts and used my car jack to straighten the top chord before sistering, replacing the webs, and adding plywood gussets. Corrected the sag and the ceiling/roof are near-flat. I ignored all of the advice to hire an engineer and have yet to lose sleep over it.
