Youth Theatre members created, directed, filmed, edited & presented 5 short films...in only TWO days!

Arts programs have been shown to improve young peoples’ well-being and confidence in academics, social settings, work, and beyond - yet funding for them is being cut at an alarming rate. It is our goal to continue to provide quality programming that is free for participants - even as arts programs across the city charge hundreds of dollars per semester.

Some highlights from the recent collaboration between the Youth Theatre and MA in Applied Theatre during our Playbuilding weekend! Grad students and Youth Theatre members create original scenes using devising techniques the Grad students have been developing all semester and the experience of the young people who create with those techniques weekly. It’s an incredible two days for our communities to work together!

Last November, Kevin James Anthony passed. He was a dear friend and colleague to many in the CAT Community for over 30 years, touching countless lives in significant ways. Kevin worked at CAT in several different capacities, including working on every CAT Youth Theatre February Show since 1996. People loved him: his heart, his warmth, his humor, his spirit. He cared deeply about his colleagues and was passionately invested in the young people he worked with.

We hope you will join us to honor his memory and celebrate his life. Come and gather with our community as we reflect on how lucky we were to share space with him.

To raise money for the CAT Youth Theatre, we are excited to announce that for the third year running, CAT Youth Theatre is going to create, film, edit & present a series of short films ... in only TWO days! This event is a part of our annual fundraising campaign to keep the YT FREE for members and we need YOUR help.

💵 SPONSOR: Donate in support of a youth theatre member or film crew by donating below and listing them in the notes section!

🏆 DONATE RAFFLE ITEMS: Part of our fundraising includes a raffle with prizes donated by the community - donate things you have or help us connect with brands and local businesses!

🍿PROVIDE CONCESSIONS: No screening is complete without popcorn, soda and candy - help us stock our snack counter!

🎞️ COME to the SCREENING: Sunday May 31 at 7pm at CAT. The Premiere Screening of the Films will be followed by a Q&A with the creative teams.

Tickets will be sold at the door and admission requires a financial donation (of any amount) to support CAT Youth Theatre.

After school and summer youth theatre programs all over the city charge hundreds of dollars to participate. We provide FREE quality programming all year for young people to create original theatre from their own ideas. Access to arts programs is transformative and has proven to be a foundational tool for engaging in learning, improving academics, career development, mental health awareness, and well-being. It is our goal to provide this programming for as many young people as possible and we need YOUR HELP.
