Huge thanks to entertainment attorneys Innes Smolansky and Diane Krausz for leading last night’s WAM Coalition Legal Clinic on Acquiring Underlying Rights!

From optioning books and scripts to navigating life rights, they shared the kind of insider knowledge creatives rarely get access to in such an open and practical way.

The roundtable format made the evening especially meaningful, giving attendees the chance to ask questions, share experiences, and learn directly from one another.

This is exactly why the Women in the Arts & Media Coalition exists: to create community, connection, and actionable resources for creatives navigating the industry.

More conversations like this coming soon.

The Women in the Arts & Media Coalition is hosting a Legal Clinic "Acquiring Underlying Rights" on Monday May 11th 6pm — and it's open to everyone.

If you're developing a project in the city, here's something worth knowing: most writers, directors, and producers don't realize they don't own the rights to their own work until it's too late. This clinic breaks down exactly that — books, scripts, life rights, deal structure — in plain language, before things get complicated.

This kind of guidance can save a project before it even gets off the ground.

Tickets: $20–$25 | Spots are limited, so grab yours early at https://bit.ly/wamlegalclinic.
