I am thrilled that ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ has been nominated and will be screened at Birmingham’s very own Flatpack Festival as part of Reel Brum’s screening this May.

I am very excited to attend the screening of this film at the Mockingbird Cinema located in the Custard Factory and a short walk from Yamination studios where I am currently making my next short film.

‘The Big Bad Wolf’ is returning home to the Black Country for Wolverhampton Film Festival - where it has been nominated for two awards including ‘Best Animation.’

I look forward to seeing ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ play in one of the towns that inspired the setting of the film.

Billy was named after Billy Wright - the Wolves football player - and coincidentally a family name that dates back generations in my own family.

Here are my initial sketches for Cumberland - the Daddy pig from ‘The Big Bad Wolf.’

Although I speak about Billy and Richmond far more frequently - Cumberland is probably the most important character in the short film - being a symbol of change with him learning to welcome wolves into society by the end.

He was a favourite character to animate too - due to his huge mouth and floppy ears. Definitely a ‘Porky Blinder.’

I have had the most wonderful evening celebrating a nomination for ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ in the animation category at Oska Bright Film Festival in Brighton.

What a wonderful and fitting festival for this film to have been selected for. Thanks to the wonderful festival team for a great evening.

“You’re really coming out of your shell!”

With Easter fast approaching I thought it was time to introduce you to Cuthbert and Calvin - the two mischievous Crème Eggs that escaped from my lunch box today causing havoc in the park.

On the theme of Easter week - here is a question I got asked about the Black Country Easter Eggs that I have hidden in ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ from my Q and A at the animation screening at Manchester Film Festival.

It’s always a pleasure to see one of my student films still doing the festival rounds after all this time. ‘Mrs Wilkins and her Magic Handbag’ will be playing in Spain this month at the 25th edition of Movilfest and is a finalist in competition.

This entire film is made from paper-cut characters and sets and filmed in a multiplane camera - a technique pioneered by Walt Disney in 1936. You can watch this film on my YouTube channel.

I am honoured to say that ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ will be screening at Manchester Film Festival at 11am on the 28th March at Odeon Manchester, Deansgate.

This is another BAFTA and BIFA Qualifying film festival and one I have been keen to have a selection for. I look forward to doing a live Q and A about the film after it has screened at chat with anyone after about the film, I shall even bring one of my puppets with me for people to meet and greet. Plenty of tickets left to book for anyone based up in Manchester.

This is a packed out cinema at New York Children’s Film Festival - watching my animated short film ‘The Big Bad Wolf.’

As a filmmaker - you live for moments like these and couldn’t prouder than to see something that started out as a small idea in my head and a couple of newspaper cartoons translate across the pond in the wonderful city of New York with its target audience of children and families.
