We are history, this Wednesday, August 21. Join a terrific roster of Chicago-area activist folk-and-rock musicians and singer/actors in performing a sit-down reading / sing-through of '68.

Part a 1960’s “happening” —but streamed live and broadcast, as well as featured on national broadcast platforms.

We will self-organize to create history together, during a weeklong DNC-related programming organized by PMI, Lumpen, and Co-Prosperity gallery called DEMOCRAZY.

Expect a homemade eve that will honor the history we sing and speak of.

Live audiences will be asked for a $10 donation to support performers, but no one will be turned away.

This week marks the 50th anniversary of the events of the 1968 convention.

It also marks the date of our national print media review by Jay Nordlinger of the National Review. “Anniversary or no anniversary, the Chicago convention is a good idea for the musical theater.” We agree.

The reviewer offers ‘68 some well-deserved praise: “it was very well executed, very well performed.... I credit the show with sincerity — with an earnestness and even an idealism.”

And although an important milestone, the 50th anniversary doesn’t mark the end of the importance of the message behind ‘68, one “of mutual understanding. Of dignity, respect, and all that (excellent) jazz.”

A new musical celebrates the famous, or infamous, Democratic convention in Chicago.

But for those who were there, or remember it, or have just read about it in history books, it is a reminder that this nation has had periods of division in the past and we have endured.
