Marking its 30th anniversary, the Austrian Heritage Collection reflects on three decades of documenting the stories of Austrian-Jewish emigrants who fled N**i persecution and rebuilt their lives in North America. Since 1996, "Gedenkdienst" volunteers have conducted more than 1,000 oral history interviews, preserving voices and histories that for many years received little public recognition.

As the era of firsthand witnesses comes to an end, the project increasingly turns toward the second generation. Nina Glueckselig, Leonie Eidinger, and Beatrice Segal share the stories of their families while reflecting on memory, intergenerational responsibility, and the future of Holocaust remembrance.

๐Ÿ“ Austrian Cultural Forum New York | 11 East 52nd Street

In โ€œRisse. Eine Verdichtung,โ€ Austrian duo mina mas reimagines the classical art song for the 21st century through an interdisciplinary concert experience blending historical repertoire, electronic soundscapes, improvisation, and newly composed material.

Soprano Michaela Resch and pianist Irina Fuchs interweave works by Schubert, Clara Schumann, Schoenberg, Sibelius, Kaija Saariaho, and others with original compositions and interventions by mina mas, creating a dense musical reflection on freedom, crisis, overload, and human connection in the digital age.

Rooted in feminist perspectives on the "Lied" tradition, the program questions rigid historical gender roles and opens new perspectives on one of classical musicโ€™s most intimate forms.

Austrian-Bulgarian filmmaker Borjana Ventzislavova presents the U.S. premiere of her latest experimental feature NEW NEWS FROM ANOTHER HOME in person at Anthology Film Archives.

Nearly fifty years after Chantal Akermanโ€™s iconic NEWS FROM HOME, Ventzislavova revisits the original filmโ€™s New York locations through a deeply personal lens shaped by migration, memory, and family history.

Combining present-day images of New York with intimate emails exchanged between mother and daughter, the film reflects on emotional distance, post-Communist realities, and the lasting impact of political trauma across generations.

Moving between Austria, Bulgaria, and New York, the film becomes a haunting dialogue across time โ€” exploring how cities, families, and identities transform under history, technology, and displacement.
