VERSE & VISION (Words That Hit Different)
"So how can I talk to the ones counting streams?
Or the ones who like to bully the dolls?
Or the ones waitin' in line to get ripped off just to turn around and rip someone else off? Baby, aren't you sick of it all?"
— 🎵 dirty wedding dress — Bleachers (2026) Jack Antonoff, producer
Yeah, I AM sick of it. I appreciate the "break from that cynical beat." It's one reason I needed a break from big city industry — the cycle of exploitation is exhausting, and it's real. Antonoff has a knack for drawing out an artist's authentic voice, encouraging them to leave the rough edges in. That is an art in itself. No sanding it down for streams.
I also love the banjo in this track. It's an instrument rooted in the Blues, which I'm writing about in depth in my newest blog about "the crossroads," that liminal space where artists make their hardest choices. Stay tuned for that...
Artists deserve collaborators who protect their instincts, not monetize them away.
