“If you can’t hold yourself up to the mirror and see someone who’s thinner and makes more than you do, who are you?” So says Dr Lesser, hostess with the mostest of the Make-Me-Over Show, as she eavesdrops on women, anytime, anywhere, by hacking their media devices – from cell phones to antique radios. She takes us on a wild multimedia rollercoaster from the 1920’s to the present, catching women facing pivotal moments in their lives. Lesser holds up score cards and judges the unwitting contestants. Who will be her next unsuspecting contestant? Lipshtick uses innovative video projection techniques to bring you the post-modern vaudevillian Make-Me-Over Show – a playful, savage confrontation with The Media that controls women’s lives, punctuated by jokes, songs and parodies of commercials. The three actresses of Lipshtick play women from all walks of life, poignantly exposing the insecurities we all share in the media-laden 21st Century.
