The Dramatists Guild mourns the loss of composer/singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik. A multi-faceted artist with a unique perspective, Duncan made a powerful first theatrical statement with his collaboration with fellow Guild member Steven Sater, Spring Awakening. This Tony Award-winning composer also received the Guild's 2006 Hull-Warriner Award. We are heartbroken that this soulful voice has been silenced and we send condolences to his family and friends. May his memory be a blessing.

📣 Wake up dramatists, the new Model Underlying Rights Agreement just dropped! Link in bio to download.

Last year, the Guild began the process of revising and re-releasing its Model Contracts. We have released our revised Model Commission Agreement, Model Collaboration Agreement, Model Licensing Agreement, and Model Premiere Production Agreements. Now we are thrilled to re-release our Model Underlying Rights Agreement!

This agreement is for dramatists who are looking to adapt a work protected by copyright into a musical or play. It grants the dramatist the right to create the adaptation, present a staged reading, and an option to acquire the right to present a fully staged production. This newly revised version adds clarity to that process.
