Barrymore Theatre

Barrymore Theatre Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp and constructed by the Shuberts, it opened on December 20, 1928, with The Kingdom of God, a play selected by leading lady Ethel Barrymore.

It is the only surviving theatre of the many the Shuberts built for performers who were affiliated with them. It has been used continuously as a legitimate house, unlike many of the older theatres that have been used for a variety of purposes throughout the years.

See the new musical Paradise Square on Broadway! Starr's travel advisor Deborah Ayars saw the show last week at the Barrymore Theatre and absolutely loved it! Check out her write-up of the show... "I did not know what to expect other than the storyline I read on Broadway.com. Joaquina Kalukanogo had me at the opening number "Paradise Square" from the way she connected emotionally to the song and to her phenomenal vocals! One of my favorite and heartfelt songs was "Since the Day That I met You" with her husband Willie. She has a fantastic vocal range and superb acting chops. Her performance was moving! A.J. Shively was also a star. His entrance and prowess in executing the dynamic choreography definitely added a new tempo to the show. His character's non-patriotic attitude made me dislike him by the end. Way to go Owen. I knew I was really into the show when I started to holler at Washington not to go back in the saloon. Oops, I caught myself. I was enthralled!" Want to hear more about it? #CzyWiecieŻe Rola sceniczna bywa przepustką do gigantycznej kariery. Here is the playbill for the Ethel Barrymore Theatre’s production of Pulitzer Prize winner Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Consul,” a tragic opera about trying desperately to get a visa...a problem many of us have experienced from time to time. Ethel’s father was the patriarch of the famous acting family and an English middleweight bare knuckles boxing champion in his youth who later survived being shot by a notorious Old West gunman after beating him at cards. This colorful historical tidbit has been brought to you by Old Grand-Dad Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
