In honor of the AMP Awards tonight, we are dredging up a controversial project we envisioned, composed and directed exactly two years ago.

When asked to create a cold open for the 2024 show, feeding off the buzz of generative AI music, we asked ourselves, “what if the AMP Awards had been cancelled?” And was replaced by the “Best Musics Awards”, the world’s first ceremony honoring exclusively non-human creations?

We wrote it. We directed it. We cast our colleagues. We gave an AI robot a more expressive face. Busta Bumps ran for president.

Some people loved it. Some people hated it. And responses ranged from “f*** the robots!!!!” to “I can’t wait to build with these tools.” Which is, in the end, what we were hoping for.

Two years later, with the AMP Awards back tonight, we keep coming back to the same feeling: the fear is real, and so is the excitement. Excited for the show tonight and Busta Bumps 4EVA!

Our favorite kind of collaboration.
Honoring the Antfood moms who bring so much heart to our studios every day, and the little
ones who keep them (and us) inspired.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Most brands sound like five different companies.
Not because nobody cares. Because there isn’t a system.

Visual identity has been systematized for fifty years. Typography rules, color hierarchies, motion guidelines — everything documented and governed. Meanwhile, someone exports a video with $800 stock music chosen on Friday afternoon before delivery.

Sonic identity is where visual was in 1970.
The brands you can hum — Apple, Netflix, McDonald’s — built systems, not moments. That’s the difference.

The Russi Hive is not your typical art gallery podcast.

Hosted by Alejandra Russi, it considers creativity from many different disciplines and lived perspectives. The show is “rooted in Ricco/Maresca’s 40+ year history of challenging hierarchies and blurring the boundaries between fine art and the vernacular,” expanding that same spirit into dialogue.

The brand ecosystem was already strong. Our role at Antfood was to extend it into sound.

We developed a sonic identity that mirrors the podcast’s expansive creative lens — interweaving piano and vocal layers inspired by 20th Century American composers. The result is anticipatory, luminous, and quietly ecstatic. Layered textures create a sense of internal momentum, and what Alejandra describes as “a feeling of energy gathering from within.”

Working in tandem with the talented team at , we ensured the sonic and visual systems move as one — giving The Russi Hive a cohesive identity across mediums.

has everything you could want, and Antfood has a sound for that.

Antfood collaborated with Whatnot to craft a sonic brand that reflects the excitement of online shopping and the community that empowers it. A richly layered swell of voices crescendos up to a stylized shop bell, capturing the fun and thrill of Whatnot’s shopping experience, while conveying the trust and connection of in-store shopping.

Our sonic logo is designed with flexible variations, allowing Whatnot to flexibly apply the sonic brand across assets, while building equity, memorability and affinity for the overall Whatnot brand.

So, what will you find?
