Espacio de Culturas recommends at NYU Madrid:
Conference: Whose East, Which West? Networks, Archives, and Diasporas in China and the Ibero-American World

From June 25 to 27, 2026, scholars from around the world will convene at NYU Madrid to discuss evolving networks of exchange, archives of knowledge, and diasporic experiences between Iberia, Latin America, China and the Sinophone world. Featured events include keynotes by Andrea Bachner (Cornell), Carles Prado-Fonts (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) and Minke Wang, dramatist, poet, translator, and winner of the Libros del Asteroide Nonfiction Prize, a screening with directors Jiajie Yu Yan and Joecar Hanna in conversation with Almudena Carracedo; a roundtable featuring writers and artists Berna Wang, Yuan iuan and Spring 2024 KJCC Chair Quan Zhou, and a taller, ‘Linajes’ led by Quan Zhou.

One more time with Art of the Living 🎶

Come join us for the last date of our Artist-in-Residence’s .megias.composer special series, Art of the Living, which has brought us into conversation with four NYC-based women artists ranging from multimedia to choir and poetry.

We will be closing with .geisewite, a Brooklyn-based conductor, singer, and educator whose work bridges choral leadership, music education, and a deep commitment to social justice.As a co-founder of Accord Treble Choir and director of Brooklyn Treble Choir, her practice brings together performance, pedagogy, and community.

Last week, we had our last FOTP of the semester with a celebration of International Worker’s Day accompanied with a silkscreening workshop of art and activism by . Followed with a lovely pre-celebration with and some delicious cake, our patio came alive once again with the joy of our community!🎂🎶

We also took a moment to celebrate our director, Jordana, for her leadership and care in the past years, as she prepares to move on to a new chapter. 🎉 Thank you to everyone who shared these moments of gratitude, appreciation and joy!

✊🎉We are celebrating Día de los Trabajadores (Workers’ Day) at our last FOTP of the semester!

Next Friday, we’re marking International Workers’ Day to celebrating all the labor and vital contributions of workers in our communities.

To start the afternoon, will join us for a pre-workshop celebration (2-3PM) ahead to Cinco de Mayo, including cake and a live performance!🎶🎂

Then, from 3–5 PM, join Mobile Print Power— a collective that combines printmaking with political education—for a hands-on silk-screening workshop: bring your own shirts, tote bags, or paper and leave with something uniquely yours.

We can’t wait to celebrate together on the wrap-up of our semester! ✨
