American Guild of Organists

American Guild of Organists Join our 10,500 chapter-based and independent members, as we advance organists and organ music. The purposes of the American Guild of Organists are:

1.

To advance the cause of organ and choral music, to increase their contributions to aesthetic and religious experiences, and to promote their understanding, appreciation, and enjoyment.

2. To improve the proficiency of organists and choral conductors.

3. To evaluate, by examination, attainments in organ playing, choral techniques, conducting, and the theory and general knowledge of music, and to grant certificates to those who pass such examinations at specified levels of attainment.

4. To provide members with opportunities to meet for discussion of professional topics, and to pursue such other activities as contribute to the fulfillment of the purposes of the Guild.

AGO Executive Director Cathy Brigham stopped by the historic Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville, KY!

She spent time admiring the cathedral's magnificent Steiner-Reck organ, set within the sanctuary of the third oldest Catholic cathedral in continuous use in the United States. It's always inspiring to celebrate the incredible instruments and rich sacred music heritage in our community. 🎶✨

We’re thrilled to share that the Executive Director of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) is in Louisville, KY this week!

During her visit, she stopped by Calvary Episcopal Church to see their magnificent Casavant Frères organ and got the exciting news that it is undergoing a full refurbishment. This stunning space will soon sound even more incredible once its restored instrument is back in place.

CHAPTER IN ACTION: The Boston Chapter, American Guild of Organists is going on an organ crawl on Sept. 26.

We have a new date for our Brookline Pipe Organ crawl - join us on September 26 to visit 2 different pipe organs in Brookline - no admission cost or reservations required for this event! Folks are welcomed to gather informally for lunch afterwards.

8.30a-10.15 gather at Christ Church Unity, Brookline (70 Colchestesr St)
Socialize with colleagues over coffee and donuts and meet our first instrument!

Then, walk .2 miles to Church of Our Saviour, Brookline (25 Monmouth Street at the corner of Carlton) for our second organ demonstration from 10:30-11:30am.
