A nice reunion with David Arthur Bachrach and Bob Laine! We attended David’s reading of Vincent Sessa’s play “The Light of the Ordinary World” this afternoon. It was great to see their work!

Your Friday chuckle.

I mentioned to Nicholas that I needed the complete Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and he said we already had them. We have his father’s collection. So I checked and they’re all first editions.

It always gives me a thrill to see Malachy McCourt’s name on his street! So deserved! He was a kind, funny, and supportive neighbor & friend of our theater company. He was a NYC treasure. We will always miss him Happy belated birthday. RIP.

We had our end of the season BBQ this weekend! We started this tradition in 2016 and it’s just been a sweet way to celebrate another wonderful summer season with company members. Lots of food, drink, and making memories! Happy to spend the day with such great friends and colleagues as we plan the next season!

Happy birthday Company Member Peter Francis James! He’s been with our company since the very beginning (2004!) and has donated Broadway tickets to the shows he’s been in to our spring auctions. A wonderful actor and great friend, we wish this fine gentleman a grand day!

We performed Hamlet this summer, but Nicholas played Hamlet the three times we did “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), the first time in 2013 (pictured here) and the last time in 2024.

This is exciting news for journalism. One of our first Assistant Stage Managers for Hudson Classical Theater Company was Jeff Stein who worked with us the whole summer before he left for college. He was a writer then (he wrote in-depth articles about our shows) and we’re so proud he has become a well respected journalist with the Washington Post and now the Washington Sun. He also just won a 2026 Pulitzer Prize for his journalism! He’s currently working on Bernie Sanders’s biography. Here’s to free speech!

Several celebrities on the Upper West Side come watch our rehearsals and shows. Lee Grant has been coming since 2021. She invited her friends to see our dress techs for “The Complete Works of Wm Shakespeare (Abridged)” because she loved it so much!! She calls Nicholas “her director” and greets him like an old friend. She watched our rehearsals for “The Importance of Being Earnest” in 2023, much to the delight of regular Hudson actor R. Scott Williams, who played Lady Bracknell. These two spoke for half an hour as R. Scott is her biggest fan! Such rich & happy memories! A very generous woman & artist.
