HOLDING ON is an emotionally raw new musical drama by Neil Klein and Jay Blotcher. Award-winning director and choreographer DJ Salisbury is at the helm of this provocative production that examines an explosive era: when America was at war in Vietnam and with itself. Bold, yet studded with comic turns, HOLDING ON takes us to Harlem in the late '60s where we follow an unforgettable cast of characters; notably Ricky, a young man of mixed race who is struggling to fit in. When he meets Penelope, a young white woman working for social change, she inspires him to join her anti-war cause. Soon, they fall in love. But tragedy suddenly intervenes and the two pair, suddenly torn apart, must struggle to reconnect with their dreams -- and with each other. Powered by Klein's soul-stirring original musical score, HOLDING ON is about the unexpected challenges that shape our destinies and the idealism that nurtures our souls. But, mostly, HOLDING ON is about the power of hope. HOLDING ON will star musical theatre veteran Terri White as family matriarch Alice Turner. White has appeared in the Broadway revivals of Finian’s Rainbow, Chicago and, most recently, the acclaimed production of Follies in New York and Los Angeles.
