Park Young Sook’s moon jar possesses a sense of tension, fullness, and strength. There’s a slight tilt to it, a subtle distortion, a certain imperfection. But this imperfection is not simply imperfection. Rather than perfect equilibrium, it is this asymmetry that sparks the imagination and gives the work its dynamic energy. The various elements come together naturally, resulting in a work that transcends both the artist and its own time and resonates with the wider world, as told by Lee Ufan.

Now Exhibiting until August 14 Seoul
- “Park Young Sook: When Form Meets Gesture” brings together works created by the artist over the last 40 years, including new sculptures produced this year, that reflect her longstanding collaborations with Lee Ufan.

This presentation focuses on the new possibilities that emerge when Lee’s painterly gesture-the tension and flow created by a single brushstroke-transcends the canvas to meet the three-dimensional materiality of Park’s porcelain.
