SENIOR SPOTLIGHT🌟
My name is Anya Barbitsch. I began my journey at Queens Dance Academy in 2015 at just seven years old starting with recreational classes. Within a year, I earned a place on the pre-competition team. By 2017, I had grown enough—both as a dancer and as a person—to join the company team.
I spent my four years of high school at Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School and will be continuing my journey at Sacred Heart University, where I will major in exercise science and minor in dance. I will also be a part of the dance ensemble, allowing me to stay connected to the art that has given me so much. After earning my degree, I plan to continue my education for three more years to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy, with the goal of working with young dancers—helping them grow, heal, and succeed. Dance has given me a variety of experiences, opportunities, and a family. Because of that, I hope to remain a strong presence and role model for the younger dancers at Queens Dance Academy, showing them what is possible through hard work and passion.
To those dancers, I want to leave you with this:
Dance is more than movement—it is expression, strength, and heart. Be open to learning, even when it challenges you. Give yourself grace, and remember that rest is just as important as effort. This journey is not only about winning—it is about feeling, growing, and becoming.
There will be moments when it feels difficult, when progress seems slow, or when you start to doubt yourself. In those moments, remind yourself why you started. Trust your passion. Embrace every success and every setback, because both are part of your story.
Do not let anyone tell you what you are capable of. Show up every day ready to work, to improve, and to give your all. Stay dedicated, stay patient, and never stop believing in yourself.
Because one day, you will look back and realize it was all worth it. It will all pay off. And when it does, you will be so proud that you never gave up.
We love you Anya and always remember that QDA will forever be home!🫶🏼
