My work explores nature's beauty through photography and sketching. While my photography embraces color, I prefer to sketch in black and white using pen, pencil, and charcoal. I am drawn to the interplay of light, texture, and form, and to the subtle details that give each subject its character. Through my work, I invite viewers to pause, look closely, and connect with the quiet beauty of the natural world.

Juanita Gilmore is a New York–based photographer and sketch artist. Her photography explores the poetry of place, tracing the intersections of culture and landscape through images captured in Tibet, India, Nepal, Morocco, Italy, Spain, and Quebec. Her sketching practice turns inward, focusing on the intimate forms, textures, and details of plants and objects through pen, pencil, and charcoal. Trained at the Philadelphia College of Art under film documentarian Reginald Bryant, Juanita is a member of Gallery35 artists’ collective. Across both practices, she continues to explore the familiar and the faraway, moving between expansive landscapes and close observation.
