48 Hour Film Project - NYC The 48 Hour Film Project is an accelerated filmmaking competition held in 130+ cities around the world!

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a local theater, usually in the next week. In 2013, nearly 60,000 filmmakers made 3

We have some exciting news to share.

48 Hour Film Project New York is now fiscally sponsored by the Gotham Film & Media Institute, one of the most respected independent film organizations in the country with over 45 years of supporting filmmakers.

What does this mean? It means that any donation made to 48HFP New York through the Gotham is tax-deductible. If you believe in what we're building here, in a New York where filmmakers from every borough and every background get a real shot at telling their stories, now there is a formal and meaningful way to support that.

Every dollar raised goes directly toward making 48HFP New York 2026 the biggest and most community-driven edition yet. We're aiming for 60 teams and 600 plus filmmakers this year. Help us get there.
