Dance Into Light / Dina Denis Dance

Dance Into Light / Dina Denis Dance In 2003, Ms. Denis founded Dina Denis Dance / Dance Into Light, Inc. which is a Queens based Modern Dance Company.

The Company produces original dance works of an interdisciplinary & multi-cultural nature. The company uses dance as an avenue for personal healing, a means for self-expression, & as an approach toward building confidence. We carry out our mission through performances, artist-to-youth mentoring services, hands-on creative movement workshops, & live dance performances to nursing homes & senior centers throughout Queens. As part of the Company’s goals for encouraging collaborations, Dina Denis Dance annually hosts “Art and Business Alive in Queens” in order to bring together artists, business owners, and patrons.

This week I had the pleasure of teaching the repertory of Joan Miller’s Dance Players . We honored the uniqueness, brilliance, and skillfulness of Joan Miller and her timeless work. Through storytelling, dancing repertory and reviving the “Miller-isms” she created throughout the years, I was able to introduce Joan Miller to a new generation of dancers. Thereby, sharing a piece of our dance history to inform, inspire and MOVE others just as Joan had done for me. Thank you to American Dance Guild for supporting the legacy of our Modern dance pioneers, creatives, and scholars.

Returning today. I arrived to create and all I could do was move. I couldn’t stop. I wanted to eat the space, consume the air and meld my feet into the floor. Bless this moment and many more so that I can create, move, live vibrantly, breathe freely. Come see the show, RAW MATERIALS - Sat., May 2 at 7pm at Here and Now Yoga, Wellness & Arts Collective. thank you for creating a space where anything can happen.
