Sophistication in Salsa BAILA Society (BASo) instructs NY Salsa in New York City and around the world.

Teaching absolute beginners and professional dancers, classes include footwork, partnerwork,styling/spinning, performance technique,dance/music theory, Latin culture and history, as well as stretching and conditioning. BASo pioneered online dance instruction to reach international students and to facilitate the learning process at home and today teaches students from over 47 countries worldwide ho

w to dance. The company's professional team has toured in Asia, Europe, Latin America and across the United States and regularly hosts charity fundraisers to promote the art form and raise money for charitable organizations. BAILA Society in New York partners with Peridance, one of the premier ballet and modern dance companies to bring NY Salsa to the classical dance world and codify its techniques to certify dance schools around the world in the BASo teaching methodology.

Class update for this weekend! Friday and Sunday’s classes are canceled due to studio events, but Saturday’s classes are ON! 😍🔥

📣 Location will be the same building (38 W 32nd street), but on the ‼️ 4th floor ‼️ Room 3 in the hallway directly across from the restrooms (not Ktown studios but a room along tht hallway)

This season’s performance workshops explore the history and cultural roots of Salsa shines and Latin Hustle 📚🌎

From Mambo, dance floors in conversation with life, percussion, to that creative energy of the South Bronx that shaped the early language of hustle, these projects invite students to step into the lineage of the dances we practice today ✨

Through choreography, listening, and research, we work to carry these traditions forward with care and intention ❤️

Enrollment is now open for BAILA Society’s Performance Workshops!✨
This season, we will be developing two performance projects: Salsa Shines and Latin Hustle

Over the course of the workshops, students will train in choreography, musicality, and collaboration as we work toward a live theater showcase this summer!

Both workshops are rooted in the histories and communities that shaped these dances, with an emphasis on process, listening, and shared practice.❤️

Students should have at least an introductory background in Salsa and/or Hustle, or prior experience in another solo dance form and/or another partner dance form.

🗓️ Sunday rehearsals starting March 22
📍 Navatman - 38 W 32nd St, New York, NY

$280 - One Workshop
$500 - Both Workshops
Performances: June 25-28

A limited number of scholarships are available for those whose participation is significant to their cultural identity and/or lineage within thse dance traditions.

Grateful to see our director included in “The Bad Bunny Effect: Dance Without Fear” by The New York Times on the cultural impact of Bad Bunny’s music and Super Bowl Halftime Show.

We’re very appreciative of the opportunity for a broader platform through and . Moments like this expand the conversation, but our focus stays the same: protecting and nurturing community. Salsa was born in oppression, and it continues to be a way for generations to survive hardship through joy.
