Standing before Yang’s monumental works, we are invited to set aside the noise of th external world and confront the deepest questions of the soul: Where do we come from? Where are we ultimately going? Does this ever-unfolding cycle of decline, loss, and impermanence have an end?

Art is not the destination, but the boat that carries us toward the other shore. In Liming‘s paintings, line is no longer the boundary of form, but the visible trace of a sacred sound moving through the boundless universe. The overlapping an dissolving of these lines become a repeated examination of the density of life. This is not merely painting, but a practice of spiritual cultivation.

🌊🌊 Crossing Art is pleased to announce ‘Splash. Splash’, a solo exhibition by artist Go Suga. This will be Go’s first solo show in New York!

The exhibition will be on view at Crossing Art from July 28, 2022 – September 15, 2022.

Go Suga (b. 1980) is an Australia-based artist best known for his truly unique and enchantingly vibrant illustrations. His move to Australia from Hiroshima, Japan when he was 10 years old greatly impacted his work. Now he combines the social, political, and cultural aspects of both of his known environments in his illustrations, tying together the rhythmic elements of traditional Eastern philosophy with those of the bright and vivid Australian lifestyle. This meshing of ideologies is reflected in Go’s work through the mix of both abstract and graphical forms, bright contrasting colors, and different patterns and textures.

🍾Please join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, July 28 from 7 – 9 p.m.

🗓RSVP Required with the link in our bio🗓

As Wassily Kandinsky metaphorized that color is the keyboard and our eye is the hammer… He believed the artist is the hand that purposely sets the soul vibrating by means of this or that key, to produce visual 'chords' and had an influence on the soul. Rubenstein’s romantic language of musical and sensual connections in paintings is just as vivid.

These incredible works are up for view until June 30th at Crossing Art gallery!

Rubenstein has been heavily fascinated with the abstract expressionist movement that exploded onto the art scene in the late 50s and early 60s ever since he studied at Parsons, and dramatically interprets and transforms the style inspired by a wide variety of sources - from Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Roberto Matta, to Arshile Gork. In the abstract phantasmagoria, Rubenstein’s painterly gestures and the dark or brilliant, intensely hued zones arising from his use of lines, assert entirely his spiritual experience and temporal sensitivity. He tries to create a subliminal language with each stroke, providing possibilities for the audience's personal interpretation, just like the archaeologists studying the mysteries behind ancient grottoes murals. Rubenstein's exaggerated forms straddle the boundary between the beautiful and grotesquery, and between the absurdist comedy and intense psychological strain.

Rubenstein’s works will be up at Crossing Art gallery until June 30th - come on by!
