Thesz, already established as one of professional wrestling’s defining World Champions, defeated the considerably younger Bockwinkel in a match that now carries exceptional historical weight. Bockwinkel was still years away from becoming one of the central figures of the AWA, making the bout a fascinating intersection between two generations of elite heavyweight wrestling.

Youngblood became best remembered for his outstanding partnership with Ricky Steamboat in Jim Crockett Promotions. Their team combined Steamboat’s precision and athletic grace with Youngblood’s speed, intensity, and natural babyface fire, creating one of the most respected tag teams of the early 1980s.

Their defining achievement came at Starrcade 1983, where they defeated Jack and Jerry Brisco inside a steel cage to capture the NWA World Tag Team Championship. The match remains one of the most important tag team contests of the territorial era and helped establish Starrcade as a major annual event.

Youngblood also competed across several territories, including Florida, the Pacific Northwest, the AWA, and internationally, carrying the traditional fundamentals of his generation wherever he worked.

Patterson had not won the title through a real bracket in Brazil.
