Bond Street Theatre initiates theatre-based projects for conflict resolution, education and empowerment in critical areas worldwide. The company develops creative programming that addresses international human rights issues, educates youth, amplifies marginalized voices, and promotes the value of the arts in peacebuilding. Bond Street Theatre has initiated innovative arts and theatre-based programs in over 40 countries worldwide, reaching individuals in refugee camps, schools, shelters, prisons, rural areas and urban centers through mobile theatre performances, capacity-building programs for local CSOs, media outreach, trainings, and collaboration with local organizations.

In 2011-2012, Bond Street Theatre juggled the Afghanistan projects with a FAVILEK project in Haiti! 🤹 We applied theatre-based methods toward post-crisis healing, empowerment and improved life skills for displaced populations in post-earthquake Port-au-Prince.

While working in the tented camps, Bond Street Theatre conducted research to determine appropriate future programming, focusing its attention on issues facing women and girls.

Between 2016-2017 our Youth Mobilization for Peace and Justice Program (again supported by USIP) came into effect. Mobile theatre and media events lead by the provincial youth leaders travelled far and wide to address issues of corruption, rule of law and access to justice. The Afghan youth leaders reached over 80,000 people!

Watch how we went through the phases of our Creativity in Action project: starting with pen and paper, research and chit-chat, moving that into the body with theatre games and improv, and then finally applying it all to real world scenarios - cleaning up, planting trees and educating others on how to care for their surroundings!

Over 2 years we worked with 400+ young people across 25 provinces focussing on teaching leadership, and creating youth-designed and implemented volunteer community improvement programs.

The 2000s saw Bond Street Theatre in India as well! Between January and June 2008, BST performed our production, A Kite’s Tale, for communities in New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow), Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajashthan (Jaipur). We also conducted over 100 hours of workshops with 350 children, adults, artists and teachers, collaborated with actors and directors from 7 theatre companies and 2 film companies, and directly reached at least 6,000 people.
