“Ni de aquí, ni de allá“

84in X 36in Acrylic, Textile, Oil, mixed medium on wood panel.

One of the few pieces I created during my time This painting is dedicated to asylum seekers and indigenous peoples that came to this country for a better life. A country that has taken land from Native peoples. California, Nevada, Utah, Texas,New Mexico, most of Arizona and Colorado, and parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Wyoming were once Mexico. The complexities of immigration, egregious detention centers and privatized prisons with inhumane treatment of vulnerable women and children. I witnessed my father being arrested and deported. My mother struggled to support her children while our father found his way back to us. The father holding his daughter gently with a Oaxacan ancestor as his roots shows our strength, perseverance and ambition. We will do whatever it takes to see our children succeed and live a better life. The little girl sleeps safely with a tight grip on the American dream. The intersecting identities of American and Immigrant have defined many of us. We never forget our roots but are often told we don’t truly belong. It’s our secret weapon. The ability to authentically connect to multiple cultures and create from both.

Big thanks to
For holding our family down during this residency. 👑

Truly thankful for a blessed 2023.

These are some of the special collaborations and projects we had the privilege to work on this year. Our work often connects with communities and aims to uplift, represent and inspire our people. The people who continue to fight for equity, representation, and freedom. We love and support all communities that support each other’s struggles and condemn violence as a solution. Black and Brown lives matter, Palestinian lives matter. My Jewish friends lives matter. There’s no room for politics only room for empathy and love. 🇵🇸

“SERENITY”

The state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.

My latest mural project for the city of Bridgeport Connecticut. This mural is dedicated to the diverse cultures that make up our beautiful communities. The Wampanoag artifacts honor one of many Nations of people all over North America who were here long before any Europeans arrived, and remain among us. The amethyst’s gemstone represented in the mural are used as a symbol of peace and unification.
The indigenous Oaxaca child is a reference from the renowned photographer Diego Huerta and a symbol of cultural pride and innocence. The caterpillar and butterflies symbolize the stages of transformation through our personal struggles that no person can avoid. Cowrie shells are highly regarded in Africa and the African Diaspora for their beauty and as a symbol of womanhood, fertility, birth and wealth. Manos de Dios are holding up the child with great care and protection. The African mud cloth pattern symbolizes protection. Immediately women are wrapped in the cloth, as it is believed to have the power to absorb pain and deflect anything negative or dangerous.
There is a lot to unpack in this mural as an artist I have my intentions but always welcome what a viewer might interpret and feel.

After an intense heatwave and thunderstorm nine days later this mural had been completed. Thank you Bridgeport for the love and support throughout the process.

Special thanks to:

“Indigenous Flow”

By Victor “Marka27” Quiñonez

Location Sunset Park Brooklyn NY 36st and 5th Ave.

Mural photos:

'Indigenous Flow' is a magnificent mural paying tribute to the ancestral homelands of Lenapehoking (Brooklyn, NY), Ramapo Munsee Lunaape Nation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, and global Indigenous communities. Resolute Indigenous figures take center stage amidst sacred symbols, patterns, and flowing water, symbolizing our interconnectedness and the importance of Indigenous representation.

Also inspired by diverse cultures, including African, Afro-Latin, Mexican, Central and South American, the mural celebrates Sunset Park's vibrant community and harmoniously integrates local flora and fauna from Greenwood Cemetery.

Commissioned by the Brooklyn Nets and Team Mills Foundation,

In partnership with

Patty Mills, The Redhawk Native American Arts Council, PS 958, and Street Theory,

And with special thanks to the NYC Department of Education.

Collaboration with my hermano for

It’s always an honor to collaborate with my brother Don Rimx. This is what happens when Puerto Rico 🇵🇷👑🇲🇽 and Mexico come together! 💪🏾🔥

Special thanks to:

Much love to everyone who came through to show support during Art Basel. We felt the love and orgullo!!

Luchando Por Mi Patria translates to “Fighting For My Homeland. This print represents both Latino Artists DonRimx and Marka 27 who currently reside in the U.S. Both artists call the United States home and are heavily influenced by American cultures like graffiti and hip-hop but have never forgotten their roots from Puerto Rico and Mexico.

We continue to blend traditions while paying homage to our respective heritage and bring legendary Luchadores to this collaborative mural. Hailing from P.R José Huertas González a.k.a “El Invader”, and heavy hitter Alejandro Muñoz Moreno a.k.a “Blue Demon from MX “ They chose Luchadores because similar to graffiti artists they have alter egos and fight to be the best in the game! They also represent their homelands of P.R and MX.

This mural is significant to our journey as Latino Artists who fight through struggles and have overcome the challenges of being looked at as outsiders
in this country and the art industry. We continue to fight for control of our narratives and push boundaries though street murals, paintings, and art installations.

We hope to inspire industry leaders and artists to keep an open heart and mind when choosing who you work with and how we can continue to add diversity and equity to the art industry.

“MEXICA WARRIOR”

I’m excited to announce my special collaboration with  in honor of Mexico’s  return to the world cup 2022! My people are extremely proud and being Mexican for me always means showing the best of our beauty and strength in everything that we do.

My mural is located in Sunset Park Brooklyn immersed in a prominent Mexican and Latino neighborhood. It celebrates our ancestors, heritage and  love for futbol.

The Aztec warrior wearing his Neo Indigenous Quetzalcoatl helmet and adorned in both home and away futbol jerseys is inspired by ancient civilizations. Adidas infused this Mexico away jersey with Mixtec art and Aztec deities to summon the fighting spirit required to rule the soccer world.

The adidas Mexico home jersey displays the feathered headdress pattern of Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl. It’s an honor to combine forces with Adidas for this unique project and share with you my “Orgullo para mi cultura”. Everyone is excited for Mexico’s return to World Cup! The worlds sport!

About Marka27

Victor "Marka27" Quiñonez is an international street artist who works at the intersection of contemporary art, graffiti, vinyl toys, fashion and design. With paintings, murals, drawings, mix-media pieces and private commissions for major brands, his robust pallette blends elements of street and pop culture with Mexican and indigenous aesthetics — a signature look the artist has coined “Neo Indigenous.” Marka27’s work has become part of graffiti and street art history, hitting legendary spots such as Five Points and the Graffiti Hall of Fame in New York, the Belmont Tunnels in L.A. and adorning walls across the United States and globally. He is currently one of the most sought after muralists in the world, mastering his craft since before “street art” was even a term.

Originally born in Juarez, Mexico but growing up in Texas, Marka27’s career as an artist began on the streets of East Dallas in a neighborhood filled with gangs, drugs, and violence. His escape was tagging walls, painting freight trains and creating murals under the cover of night. At Booker T. Washington High School, he began honing his craft in a more formal setting, and won a full-ride scholarship to The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Under the mentorship of Magdalena Compos Pons, Quiñonez’ talents further blossomed, and he was honored with both the prestigious Robert & Ruth Remis Award and the Stephen D. Paine Scholarship. His first professional art exhibit was at the Isabella Gardner Museum followed by a group show at the Mills Gallery Boston.

After moving to Los Angeles with his wife and creative business partner, Liza, Marka27’s street style took him into the fashion industry as a product and graphic designer. In LA he began exhibiting at Man One’s now legendary CREWEST Gallery, a space created specifically to showcase works on canvas by graffiti artists. His work in the 2006 “Audio Canvas” installation made him a household name. Marka27's artwork has since been exhibited around the globe in spaces like Inner State Gallery, Gallery 1988, Think Space, La Luz de Jesus, Contemporary Art Center Mito Japan, A7MA Gallery, Brazil, and more.

Marka27’s body of work is vast and limitless, including murals, fashion, contemporary art and even the designer toy scene, where Marka27 made his debut at the height of its popularity with the critically-acclaimed MiniGODS: Givers of Divine Sound, a high-end line of designer vinyl toy speakers. Prolific in this artform as he is in his others, he went on to create Killa Instinct and BIC Buddies for BIC Plastics and half a dozen exclusive releases for KidRobot, among others. His designer toys have made it to the shelves of high end boutiques and coveted museum shops such as the Tate London, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Bodega Boston, and Colette Paris to name a few.
