BIG NEWS ALERT☄️

We're teaming up with Playwrights Horizons and PAGE 73 to bring you the world premiere of WOLD METEOR by Kate Attwell.

Directed by Dustin Wills
With Songs by Sunder Ganglani
A Co-Production with Playwrights Horizons in Partnership with Working Theater

A great stone falls from the atmosphere at 3 o’clock on 13 December 1795, plummeting into Emory Miller’s farm. In its wake come reports of fire and strange flashes of light. What happens next is the story of a townspeople divided, manipulated by fear and destitution at the hands of an increasingly wealthy few. A musical allegory for modern times, WOLD METEOR asks: What sacrifice will bring about change?

Say it. We know you want to 🤭

We're proud to be NYC's Off-Broadway theater company dedicated to telling the stories of working people, breaking down the barriers of access, and make a theater that works for everyone. If you haven't joined us yet, what are you waiting for?

We have our Stage Left festival coming June 12-14 where art and activism meet in the same room. Say you'll be there? (another iconic girl group anthem!)

The federal tipped wage remains stuck at $2.13, leaving workers dependent on tips while recent tax breaks fail to help the lowest earners.

Our 2026 Bridge Awards & Benefit brought together artists, organizers, workers, union leaders, and community members for an evening that reminded us exactly why this work matters.

Because of your support, we raised critical funds that will help Working Theater continue making theater work for people who work. From new play development to accessible ticketing, every contribution helps us keep building a theater for, about, and with working people.

To everyone who attended, donated, performed, volunteered, or supported from afar: thank you. This community is what makes the work possible.🧡

We would make GREAT 📺...we're just saying.

We dialed up the drama for this little reel, but don't be fooled. The Bridge Awards and Benefit was drama free and an iconic evening bringing together together the labor and arts community. Thank you to everyone who came out last night and who donated, who volunteered, and who helped us raise critical funds to continue making theater work for people who work.

More to come from last night...but now, we rest!

May 2-24, join three generations of the legendary Guerrero family as they gather for a special
family reunion. In the kitchen, Kati and Ellie are digging up old feuds. In the living
room, Maestra will tell you about the generations of musicians that came before,
while you sit next to her sipping your drink. And on the patio, you can get high(on
life)with the cousins.

What are the Bridge Awards?

They’re a celebration of the people who make this work possible. Artists, labor leaders, organizers, and advocates who are building the bridge between labor and arts.

Each year, we come together to honor those creating real change at the intersection of theater, labor, and social justice, and to raise the critical funds that fuel Working Theater’s programs year-round. From new play development to community partnerships, this night helps sustain a theater for, about, and with working people.

Take a look back, and then get ready to join is this year.

Theater for, about, and with working people.

TheaterWorks! is our free 12 week playwriting class which offers working people a chance to write their story and then see it come to life onstage with professional actors. This past sunday was our final performances for our session in partnership with the Cornell University ILR School What was shared was a testament to working people and their lived experience of work and the climate crisis.

It was an afternoon we won't soon forget, and if you missed it, here is a peek into the room.

Last year looked like this…can you imagine what this year will look like?!?

The Bridge Awards & Benefit is more than a night out. It’s how we keep building a theater for, about, and with working people. If you’ve been in the room, you know. If you haven’t, this is your year.
