New York City Children's Theater New York City Children’s Theater inspires young people’s imaginations and supports social and emotional growth through original theatrical experiences.

The mission of New York City Children’s Theater is to promote children’s literacy and social development through accessible professional theater productions and arts-in-education programs. We reach children and their communities with a wide range of programming, including full-scale productions, small touring shows, interactive workshops and in-school residencies, and engage with them in tradition

al theater spaces, school auditoriums, classrooms and cultural venues in their neighborhoods. We demonstrate that engaging young people in the arts has a positive impact on their cognitive, emotional and social development, and furthers a lifelong appreciation of the arts.

Throwback to last month’s 30th Anniversary celebration, when NYCCT alum Storm Lever returned to perform a song from Wringer, a production she was part of nearly 10 years ago. Since her time with NYCCT, Storm has continued to shine on stage inclduing starring as Anne Boelyn in SIX on broadway, Ducking Donna in Summer, and more.

Art education is not a luxury — it’s a lifeline.

Through our TRUST program, NYCCT brings trauma-informed, play-based arts learning directly into NYC shelters, creating consistent spaces for children to explore creatviity, build confidence ,and simple be kids.

Each week, students use storytelling, music and theater to express emotions, connect with one another and imagine posibilities beyond the challenhes they may be facing.

This work is at the heart of what we do, and we’re grateful to continue bringing the power of theater to commnities across New York City.
