Following the passing of Robert A.F. Thurman, beloved Buddhist scholar, teacher, translator, author, and lifelong advocate for Tibetan culture and wisdom, we will gather each Monday in prayer, remembrance, and dedication of merit.
Bob Thurman devoted his life to making the profound teachings of Tibetan Buddhism accessible to the modern world. As one of the first Westerners ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist monk by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, founder of Tibet House US, and a pioneering professor of Buddhist Studies at Columbia University, he inspired generations through his scholarship, humor, compassion, and unwavering commitment to nonviolence and universal responsibility.
These weekly prayers will include traditional Tibetan Buddhist practices, recitations, and dedications offered for Bob’s continued journey and in gratitude for his extraordinary life of service. Students, friends, colleagues, and all who have been touched by his teachings are warmly invited to participate.
All are welcome to attend in person or join the live simulcast through the Tibet House US website, YouTube, or Facebook.
