Actors Training Ground

Actors Training Ground Graduate-level training. Conservatory-style classes. Affordable. Explore the possibilities! Private coaching is also available.

Actors Training Ground's mission is to bring professional training to actors of all levels. A variety of techniques are used in our Acting classes including Meisner, Hagen, Strasberg, and Stanislavsky. The International Phonetic Alphabet is the base of the Dialects class and our voice class uses the approach taught at Actors Studio Drama School: Voice and Speech for the Stanislavsky Actor - Buildi

ng the voice and sound through proper alignment and support. Our primary goal is to help adult and young actors prepare for the acting industry by giving them the tools to succeed as an actor. Our classes are designed for both beginning and advanced levels of acting. Actors Training Ground offers actors the opportunity to explore themselves, push their limits, and hone their craft to enrich their acting skills and character development. Classes are offered for ages 17 - Adult and run 8 - 10 weeks at a time. Currently classes are held at the Raleigh Area Children's Theatre space owned by Blaire Callaghan. A percentage of my revenue from classes goes to paying for the use of that space. Actors Training Ground was designed from the ground up by Tanner Lagasca. There is no corporate budget or elaborate board of directors. I am a real person who cares about the growth of actors and the quality of the training. Actors Training Ground started out teaching Scene Study during the summer of 2011. It has developed into a year-round theatre teaching program offering classes in acting, voice, character development, audition technique, dialects, and new in 2016, an acting intensive. Help support local business that are starting up and register for one of the many excellent classes. Your support will help Actors Training Ground grow.

Acting Tip: Taking Breaks from Rehearsing at home

Today, I want to talk to you about working from home. When we come home and we work on memorizing or character development, we get so wrapped up in what we're doing we forget to do the one thing that's most important: take breaks. After about a half-hour or so. Step away, stretch your legs, get something to drink, go outside. Give your brain a bit of a break, 5 - 10 minutes. Then go back to the project at hand. You will find that you will accomplish more and you won't feel like you're mentally exhausted afterwards.
