NYNeofuturists The NY Neo-Futurists bring you new original work every Friday & Saturday night at 9:30 at The Asylum NYC

Neo-Futurism is an approach to performance which advocates the complete awareness and inclusion of the actual world within the theater in order to achieve a goal: to bring people to a greater understanding of themselves and each other. Rather than upholding contemporary theatrical conventions of character, setting, plot, and the separation of audience and performer, Neo-Futurism aims to present actual life on stage by creating a world in the theater which has no pretense or illusion.

We’re raising $10K by September! 💸 We’ve raised $3.4K so far. Will you help us reach our goal?

Our recent move to Asylum NYC represents an ambitious and invigorating step for us, and we’d love your support as we take this leap.

Funds raised will support operating costs at our new venue, investing in growing our marketing and audience development efforts, and continuing our commitment to paying the artists who make the amazing work that you know and love.

ENROLLMENT IS OPEN! ✨ Join clay for our upcoming Level 2 workshop!

This workshop is a deeper dive into the Neo-Futurist aesthetic for artists ready to push their work further. Building on your existing Neo-Futurist experience, you’ll create new material through writing prompts, collaboration, revision, and experimentation. Together, we’ll explore dialogue plays, anti-plays, and ambitious high-concept, low-budget theater while examining how multimedia, technology, and performance can expand the possibilities of the form.

This is a five-session workshop series with ensemble member Clay Palmer, held weekly on Thursdays from 6-8pm beginning July 30th at A.R.T./New York South Oxford Space in Brooklyn (138 S Oxford St, Brooklyn, NY 11217).

Visit the link in our bio to enroll!

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Clay Palmer is an educator, experimental performance maker, and writer. They have been an ensemble member of the Neo-Futurists since 2019, first in San Francisco and now in New York. Clay currently works as an Educator at the Tenement Museum and has a background education, both as an arts/museum educator and a full-time classroom teacher. Much of what they love about the practice of Neo-Futurism is also what they adore about education: both require locating and expressing self and community in ephemeral, abstract, and connective ways.

Their main creative interests are education as art, storytelling that centers humanity, and multidisciplinary forays into sonic, visual, and prose-based performance. Clay loves biking, cats, trombone, and chit chatting.
