I now have more beads than I know what to do with, but I’ve always been susceptible to the charms of pretty rocks… Clearly, I will be fabricating sterling silver necklace and bracelet clasps this winter, and beading! I’m thinking short necklace strands that can be layered on the neck and wrist. Also combining different stones in various sizes to create focal points. “I recently made 2 visits to CJS. CJS Sales is a (wholesale only) vintage jewelry supply warehouse that is going out of business. After spending about 5+ hours on my hands, knees and rear end sorting through stacks of unlabeled boxes, some beads caught my eye. “Yesterday was a very good day indeed! My friend Helen from Pink Daffodil Jewelry pink.daffodil.jewelry and I visited CJS Sales: Crafts, Jewelry, Supplies cjs_sales in the Garment District of NYC.

Imagine an entire office packed wall to wall with beads, chain, findings, and all sorts of random jewelry making supplies. Now imagine just the glass beads are in boxes piled 7 high and 3 rows deep. Yeah. Heaven.

After a few hours our suitcases couldn’t hold any more, so we dragged our treasures back down to Grand Central Station.

Thank you so much Elyse for your years of somehow keeping everything together, and say hi you your dad, Carl, for us. Wishing you all the best on your next adventure! Repost from Sky Blue Designs®️

“TREASURE HUNT FOR JEWELRY MATERIALS!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻 My viral Chanel inspired fishnet top was created entirely with supplies from CJS in NYC!!! It made 10 years this year that I’ve been going to CJS and I lcannot believe we only have a few months left with this incredible warehouse since they’ll be shutting their doors in December ☹️☹️ Elyse & her dad Carl have to be one of the coolest business owners I’ve ever met, buying closeout vintage jewelry stock from all over the US and constantly stocking up their 6th floor warehouse in Manhattan. I have never been in a space like this to buy my jewelry supplies and I don’t think I’ll ever find a space like this again (trust me, I’ve tried looking!!). They’re open Mondays and Thursdays (set hours) and require appointments and a business tax ID. I’m literally going to travel 2500 miles to come back to this space before they shut their doors because I just can’t freakin believe it “ repost from Encantada Studio

I’ve been a customer of theirs for over a decade. Last year they told me they used to have 6 floors of jewelry manufacturing in Midtown Manhattan back in the day. I wish I was old enough to see it.
