Join us this fall for Tactile Transmissions!
 

Tactile Transmissions is a free 90-minute Access Program geared toward visitors who are blind or partially sighted. This program focuses on Chaim Gross’s work and art collections utilizing verbal description and touch. Educators lead participants in creative activities using a variety of techniques and materials.
 

Tactile Transmissions is offered in both virtual and in-person formats in a small group setting. Participants joining the in-person sessions engage closely with the home and studio of the Grosses. This unique environment allows for supervised handling of sculpture, tools, and works in progress.
 

Virtual and in-person programs take place on the first and second Thursday of the month. See the schedule below for upcoming dates. All programs take place from 11 am to 12:30 pm.

Join us for an intimate concert featuring violist Bethlehem Hadgu. The program will include compositions by J.S. Bach (1685–1750), Henri Vieuxtemps (1820–1881), and Michael Kosch (b.1959).

Bethlehem Hadgu is a performing violist and educator whose journey reflects resilience, artistry, and a dedication to classical music and culture. Born in Eritrea, she immigrated to the United States in 2007 with her family, carrying with her a determination to pursue excellence.

Bethlehem is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2022 and her Master’s degree in 2024, both under the Kovner Fellowship. Her artistry was further honed through the Perlman Music Program where she collaborated with musicians including Itzhak Perlman, Merry Peckham, and Donald Weilerstein.

Bethlehem has toured in Europe and has played at The Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall. She has also been showcased as a featured artist on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series. Inspired by her love for Western classical music and its enduring legacy, Bethlehem founded Exalt Chamber Music in 2024.

Create art inspired by your favorite springtime scenes! Join us to create custom cards for friends and family at the Renee & Chaim Gross Foundation.

In the “Block Prints: Springtime Edition” workshop, participants will learn the process of block printing and leave with their own custom cards. Block printing is a form of relief printing where artists carve and then ink multimedia blocks to create an image. No experience necessary!

Take inspiration from Chaim Gross’s life and work during “Field Notes: A Writing Workshop” on Saturday, May 2 from 11 am to 1 pm.

This multisensory workshop will explore three floors of the Foundation, encouraging writers of all levels to begin or deepen their writing practice.

Notebooks and drawing materials are provided. No prior writing or drawing experience is required.

The workshop is led by artist and educator Pamela Lawton and Manuela Ruckdeschel, the Renee & Chaim Gross Foundation’s 2025–26 NYU Public Humanities Fellow.

Join us on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 pm for an intimate concert featuring violinist Yibin Li and cellist Philippe Muller. The program will include compositions by Beethoven (1770–1827), Gliére (1875–1956), Michael Kosch (b.1959), and Ravel (1975–1937).

Yibin Li is an accomplished violinist and educator. Born in China, she began her musical journey at five under the guidance of her father, violinist Qing Li. Yibin’s performance career spans the globe, with solo appearances alongside prominent orchestras including the Beijing National Symphony, Shanghai Symphony, Taipei Symphony, and Syracuse Symphony.

As the Co-Director and an artist of the OneMusic Project (OMP), a non-profit organization, Yibin unites international artists to create innovative concerts that blend literature with chamber music.

Philippe Muller is a renowned cellist and cello teacher. Philippe has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in places like Carnegie Hall and Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo. He formed a renowned trio with violinist Jean-Jacques Kantorow and pianist Jacques Rouvier. He also became the principal cellist for Pierre Boulez’s Ensemble Intercontemporain.

For twenty years, he has participated in the Académie de Musique Française in Kyoto and the Festival du Domaine Forget in Quebec, Canada. He now teaches at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.

On Saturday, May 2, we will be hosting “Field Notes: A Writing Workshop” from 11 am to 1 pm. This multisensory workshop is designed to encourage art lovers to begin or deepen their writing practice.

Participants will explore Chaim Gross’s historic sculpture studio and the temporary exhibition “Figure/Ground: Landscapes in the Collection of the Renee & Chaim Gross Foundation,” and develop poems and free-form essays in response to the artworks and their own experience.

Notebooks and drawing materials are provided.
No prior writing or drawing experience is required.

Field Notes is rooted in the artistic landscape of Greenwich Village as a space of exchange across the arts. Among the many artists who frequented Chaim Gross’s home was the poet Allen Ginsberg, who described “the human quality, the interdependence of the human” as the distinctive essence of Gross’s figures.

The workshop is led by artist and educator Pamela Lawton in collaboration with Manuela Ruckdeschel, the Renee & Chaim Gross Foundation’s 2025–26 NYU Public Humanities Fellow.

Join us this Saturday, April 25, for the SoHo Arts Network’s (SAN) Downtown Culture Walk. The Foundation will be open for free self-guided tours from 12 to 4 pm! Other participating members will offer free or suggested admissions as well as special hours and public programs.
 

The Downtown Culture Walk is a self-guided walking tour presented by SAN, highlighting non-profit art spaces in and around SoHo. SAN celebrates the rich history of our unique creative community and collectively shares our distinct cultural contributions with neighborhood residents and visitors. 
 
 
Other participating sites include: apexart, Canal Projects, Dia: The New York Earth Room & The Broken Kilometer, The Drawing Center, Judd Foundation, Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, Milton Resnick and Pat Passlof Foundation, Museum of Chinese in America, Ukrainian Museum, and initial research.
