My first time working with ceramics!

I’ve always wanted to try transferring photography onto clay, and thanks to the ceramicist sculptor Masha Vintskevich , I finally did. She hosted a workshop for a few NYC artists, and it was such a vibe.

While others made vases and plates, I created a wall panel. My goal was to merge a portrait with nature. It’s a bit more detailed than my usual minimalist style, but I loved experimenting with different sculpting and glazing techniques.

The piece actually cracked during the final firing, but honestly It was worth it. The process opened up a whole new world for me.

Huge thanks to Masha for the guidance and the ceramic studio for the amazing atmosphere!

Tenderness, vulnerability, fragility. They are out of fashion—they inflict pain. We hide them, locking them away deep inside ourselves. Even a mirror is unable to reflect our true self. We exist in a state of perpetual transformation—our masks firmly in place. And yet, beneath the mask, the real you still remains. Listen closely.

The face dissolves into the horizon.
There is a sense of calm, but it feels temporary, like a pause rather than a resolution. The body remains, but identity drifts somewhere between presence and absence.
I am interested in this fragile moment of suspension, when nothing is fixed and everything is still becoming.

Next portrait of my daughter from the Unexpected Beauty Series.

Sometimes we learn the rules of composition and color, follow the “correct” camera settings and lighting… and nothing good comes out. And other times, magic happens without you even trying. You don’t even look into the camera, your settings are wrong — and suddenly you get your favorite shot of the month.

That’s why I love photography and have been doing it for more than 30 years. I give up and start again, I learn new techniques and take new classes. Because it still surprises me and gives my life new colors and purpose.

Have you ever felt that? What is your lifelong inspiration?

Еще один портрет моей дочки из серии «Неожиданная красота».

Иногда мы изучаем правила композиции и цвета, выставляем «правильные» настройки камеры и света… и ничего не получается.

А в другой раз магия случается сама собой. Ты даже не смотришь в видоискатель, настройки неправильные — и вдруг получаешь любимый кадр.

Вот почему я люблю фотографию и занимаюсь ею уже больше 30 лет. Я сдавалась и начинала заново, изучала новые техники, проходила новые курсы. Потому что она всё ещё удивляет меня и наполняет мою жизнь новыми красками и смыслом.

А у вас так бывало? Что-то вдохновляет вас всю жизнь?
